Invites applications for the position ofJr. Aquatics StaffPart-timeServing Ingersoll’s lively and growing community, the Victoria Park Community Centre is seeking aLifeguard/Swim Instructor for early mornings, days, evenings, and/or weekend shifts to join itstalented aquatics team.Our pool is a 25m 4 lane pool with two small teaching pools attached. Overlooked by our fitness room with brand newfitness equipment, and a large seating area for viewing your child’s swimming lessons just off the pool deck. Our pooltemperature sits at a nice 84 degrees which makes it an ideal temperature for swimming lessons and is comfortable forlane swimming.Position OverviewAs a jr. Aquatics Staff member you will be responsible for aiding in the delivery of fun aquatic programming andmaintain a safe environment. Specifically you will:Support the delivery of aquatic programs and special events with a focus on delivering service excellence.Act in compliance with Ontario Health Regulations and relevant legislation and operational guidelinesProvide excellent customer serviceProvide assistance and accident prevention and public educationPerform minor first aid, maintenance and/or custodial duties as assignedWith guidance from Instructor/Guards, assist with swim lessons planning, instruction, evaluation.Assist with banding for swim admissions, swim tests during open swims, and provide patron guidance andeducation.Provide a safe and clean pool areaEssential Lifeguard responsibilities: Rescue Ready, Scan Aggressively, Singularly focused, protect and educate the public.Essential Swim Instructor Responsibilities: Prepare for various swim levels through planning, prepare to teach andeducate adults how to assist their child during swim lessons, cleaning/disinfecting equipment, understand the science ofhow someone swims to best educate and teach swimmers.Expectations for hours etc. – Usually the latest shift ends at 9pm, the earliest shifts can start at 545am. You will berequired to work weekends and evenings.Top positive aspects of this job – You make a difference every day in the lives of those that use our facility. You get to work with an experienced team oflifeguards/swim instructors and have a group of people to rely on to learn from and a supportive network.
