Job Description

Job DescriptionAs the Maintenance Group Leader, you will be responsible for a group of 8-14 hourly skilled trades employees. You will manage the team to safely maintain and repair plant equipment and facilities, aligned with standard GM maintenance systems. The automotive manufacturing environment is an exciting, dynamic environment full of learnings, challenges, and opportunities to excel. The candidate must promote an atmosphere of inclusion and collaboration.Elements of the job will include:

  • Coordinate the development of pre-task plans prior to jobs to ensure all jobs are completed safely. Engage employees daily to promote safe practices and behaviors. Monitor compliance to safety protocols.
  • Plan employee tasks, assignments, and schedules
  • Schedule preventative maintenance (PM) tasks. Continuously improve PM program.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions
  • Recommend solutions to mechanical and electrical problems
  • Ensure production equipment is capable of meeting schedule and quality requirements
  • Comply with the terms of local and national labor agreements
  • Implement local and corporate policies regarding safety and housekeeping practices
  • Maintain frequent contact and collaboration with others outside of the work group
  • Stewardship for the effective use of personnel, material and equipment resources
  • Evaluate and adjust work plans to accomplish completion of the job and/or project.
  • Learn, adopt, and lead GMS (Global Manufacturing System) processes to operate the business unit with continuous improvement
Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience - ideally in supervision of a multi-trade workforce
  • Knowledge of and ability to insure a safe industrial work environment
  • High level of analytical ability (Electrical / Controls / Mechanical aptitude) to solve complex problems
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employee and elicit work output
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
Schedule:
  • Three shift rotation is required
  • Overtime shifts on Saturdays and Sundays will be required
Education:
  • Minimum College Diploma and/or Skilled Trade in a related field (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, etc)
