Invites applications for the position ofSecretary/ReceptionistPart-time/CasualDepartment: Parks and Recreation – Victoria Park Community CentreCompensation: $14.56 per hour# of Positions: 2 – 1 contract and 1 permanentPosition SummaryThe successful candidate will be working primarily afternoons, evenings and weekends and the occasionalweekday morning performing a number of clerical duties in support of the Centre’s operations.Specifically, the Secretary/Receptionist will be responsible for: Delivering exceptional customer service to all guests and patrons of the community centre; providing in-depth and up-to-date information on the centre’s programs, policies, events, and activities; respondingto all inquiries; and registering and processing memberships and activity applications. Championing and promoting the Community Centre, its facilities, programming and activities to engagethe public, drive interest and to increase participation and membership. Compiling receipts and reports on a daily basis. Typing letters, flyers, and newsletters as required. Assisting in the maintenance of an organized and effective filing system.Qualifications Secondary School Diploma combined with a minimum of six (6) months of relevant experience in acustomer-facing role. Technical proficiency to operate computers, applications and various pieces of office equipment. Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with fellow employees and the generalpublic, as well as the ability to work independently as required. Customer-service orientation with the ability to handle difficult situations tactfully and professionally. Ability to work weeknights and weekends as scheduled.Please be advised that the successful applicant will be required to obtain at their own cost, First Aid/CPRcertification and a Police Criminal Record Check.Please be advised that weekly rapid testing is required for all staff who are not fully vaccinatedAvailabilityThis is a part-time position entitled to work up to 24 hours in a week.
