Job Description

Type:Permanent Part TimeLocation:MerrittPOSITION: Better at Home Merritt Coordinator (Permanent Part- time)START DATE: As soon as possibleLOCATION: Merritt, BCHOURS OF WORK: 23 hrs/week. A flexible schedule will be required dependent on the needs of the program.SALARY: Grid 12 ($24.48 - $28.52 per hour as per collective agreement)REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A Diploma in a related field (ie. Administration, Marketing, Human Service) and a minimum of 2 years related experience in planning/coordination and administration. Or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Experience working with volunteers, and public relations is an asset.
  • Experience with facilitating advisory committees’ or community planning tables is an asset.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License, safe driver’s abstract and own vehicle with 5 Million Business Insurance
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong ability to coordinate program service delivery and volunteers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with all individuals - seniors, families, professionals, staff, service providers, government, community groups and other stakeholders.
  • Strong administrative skills – planning, organizing, documentation.
  • Strong computer skills - Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong ability to market the program and conduct presentations.
  • Strong ability to facilitate advisory/planning committee.
  • Ability to represent the program in a positive and professional manner.
  • Strong ability to maintain databases and create statistical reports as required for program accountability and efficiency.
  • Solid understanding of, and ability to work within the program budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and often under pressure, while managing multiple concurrent projects and deadlines, including effectively and efficiently responding to urgent situations and problem solving.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and the ability to model, share, and educate this value with staff, volunteers, families and community.
DUTIES:The Better at Home program provides support services to seniors in Merritt and area to allow them to stay in their homes longer. Services are provided by volunteers and contract services and may include assistance in grocery shopping, light yardwork and housekeeping. This position is responsible for the overall daily operations of the Better at Home Merritt program to ensure the goals and objectives of the service are met.
