Join our team today.Position OverviewDo you have a passion for community service and safety, and are looking to collaborate with community organizations to implement programs to reduce firearm and organized criminal activities This two-year contract, full time position will see you developing, planning, and directing the Kamloops Guns and Gang Violence Prevention community-based, crime prevention program. You will need to have strong interpersonal, leadership, and relationship skills as well as project management skills to implement this program. You will play an integral role in preventing crime in our community!The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • Completion of a two-year diploma in social sciences, such as, criminology, psychology, sociology, or related discipline.
  • Minimum two years experience in project management and community program coordination.
  • Minimum one-year experience in facilitating and leading teams and/or working groups.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Strong computer skills in a Windows based environment.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Reliability Clearance. Please note, if you are unable to obtain or maintain a Clearance, your employment with the City will be terminated.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Project Management PMP Certification.
  • Previous experience with public engagement
  • Previous experience in a police environment.
  • Knowledge of RCMP computer systems.
This position has a starting salary of $60,898.50, with a rapid salary progression through a performance- based step system and will receive 14% in lieu of all benefits, vacation, stat holidays, and health time. The City provides access to fitness facilities, various instructed programs, and many community volunteer/engagement opportunities.This is an exempt contract position for up to two years that may be renewed for an additional two years based on operational need.For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check.Note that this is a temporary exempt contract position until approximately November 30, 2024.Hourly Rate$31.23 + 14% = $35.60Hours & Days of WorkThe hours and days of work each week will vary and will be up to 37.50 hours per week.
