The area provides the opportunity to live and work in a vibrant community with its own university and within easy reach of world class ski resorts, championship golf courses, mountain biking trails, popular recreational lakes and award-winning vineyardsAbout the RoleSchedule: 7 on 7 off, rotating days and nightsPosition Reports To: Underground Shift SupervisorPosition OverviewNew Afton is looking for highly motivated, positive team players who are dedicated to safety, equipment care and the environment to join our Underground operations team.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure safe operation in striving to meet production targets;Operate long hole drill, shotcrete equipment, scoop tram, haul truck and/or other underground equipment;Share knowledge and mentor other team members; andcomplete other labour tasks as required.QualificationsPossess Grade 12 diploma or equivalent;Has considerable mechanical and cognitive aptitude and experience running heavy equipment;Minimum 6 months experience underground mining and a high degree of knowledge and familiarity with mining processes.A valid driver’s license and access to personal transportation is required;Experience as a leader is highly desirableEagerness to learn and developAbility to be flexible in job tasks and responsibilities so that work is balanced between team membersDemonstrated ability to share knowledge gained with others and the ability to solve problemsOther RequirementsCandidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:Successful completion of pre-placement functional screenProvide proof of a valid Class 5 driver’s licenseDemonstrate eligibility to work in CanadaProvide confirmation of valid educational requirementsCompensationA competitive salary, performance bonus plan and benefits will be provided.
