JOB POSTING 2022-86This Position is open to applicants of all gender identities.The burden of proof of bona fide exceptions rests with the EmployerThis position requires Union membership.Job Title: Food Skills Coordinator Interior Community Services (ICS) is a non-profit, accredited, multi service agency providing supported programming to people of all ages. Interior Community Services enriches the lives of individuals and families by providing integrated family support, individual life skills development, and safe, nurturing home environments designed to assist people to live to their potential in the community. At ICS we offer support and services to approximately 1,100 people a day, providing programs from prenatal to seniors. InteriorCommunity Services offers a wide range of prevention and supports to children, youth and family, community living and affordable housing.Job Summary: The Food Skills Coordinator works with targeted and community groups to build skills and knowledge in the areas of: nutrition, food recovery, healthy meal preparation, food access, culinary and preservation methods. They are responsible for coordinating and developing volunteer and mentorship based food programs related to food security and advocacy including community kitchens and meals, food recovery and food literacy.Job Type: Permanent Full TimeLocation: Kamloops, BCHours of Work: 35 hrs/ week. Report To: Manager, Mount Paul Community Food Center Salary and Benefits

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Diploma in a related field of study and 2 years of experience in culinary skills, food preservation methods, program development, and group facilitation. Or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (MANDT) and Food Safe training an asset; organization will pay for such
training for the right candidate
  • Must have valid Class 5 driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Must consent to a Criminal Record Check which will be reimbursed by the organization upon hire
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of nutrition, cooking, food preservation, food security, and sustainable food systems.
  • Strong ability to work independently with little supervision and as a strong contributing member of a team
  • Experience with accessing and promoting the use of local nutritional food.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations who have experienced social isolation and poverty.
  • Experience with community programming and engagement.
  • Experience coordinating and managing a high volume of volunteers and/or community groups
  • Ability to build and maintain strong community partnerships
  • Strong organization, planning and coordinating skills
  • Ability to oversee large groups of diverse volunteers
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  • Strong ability to facilitate groups, speak/present to groups of people
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple demands
