Job Description

REPORTS TO: ASSISTANT MANAGERPurpose: The incumbent in this position will assist the management team in the overall operations of the retail unit, with a main focus on Grocery, Produce, and bulk foods areas. He/She will be assigned duties on a regular basis and will work with the management team to provide exceptional customer service, reach store metrics, execute company standard operating procedures and policies. The individual must be customer service focused and oriented at all times. This position requires a demonstrated passion for the natural products industry and a strong commitment to the company core values to help drive the profitability and sales targets. A good understanding of the nutritional and health benefits of a proper diet will be an asset.Core Accountabilities(listed in order of importance)In-Stock: Ensure the assigned area is full, faced and properly rotated prior to store opening and will maintain sufficient stock levels throughout the day. Shelves should be filled to capacity at all times. There is to be a focus on customer service while filling.Merchandising Expected to assist with setting up displays for flyers, ensuring clips strips and sidekicks are full and will communicate inventory needs to the management team.Cycle Counts/Date checking: Assist store management team with regular inventory counts. Responsible to ensure items with newer expiry dates are placed behind older item while stocking and will be a part of the date checking process for the store.Education: The team member should possess an interest in healthy nutrition and current dietary trends.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESIn-stock: -Ensure all empty shelves are full throughout the day and before end of shift-Strive for no overstock in the backroom, “if its in the store it’s on the floor”-Identify opportunities with new items and items consistently out of stock for management team-Ensure pricing integrity and labeling in place-Stock new items behind older items to ensure first in first out rotation (FIFO)Merchandising: -Set End caps, sidekicks and clip strips as per company direction-Assist the management team with potential displays to help drive sales-Ensure product displays are full and enticing for customersCycle Counts/Date Checking: -Count ALL products in assigned location regularly ensuring accuracy-Check dating on products as per company guidelines Education:-Assist customers who are seeking healthy lifestyle options-Inform customers on different types of diets, trends, fads, available Inform customers on allergy, food sensitivity and other dietary restrictions.CORE COMPETENCIES: -Customer Orientation – Ability to solve simple customer problems; talks to customers to find out what they need and how satisfied they are with what they are getting; operates on a customer service mindset-Good interpersonal and collaboration skills – Works well in a team environment and collaborates with others; maintains interdependent relationships with team members; and works successfully between departments-Teamwork - Shares knowledge and skills to accomplish team objectives; Listens to others point of view and is eager to be a part of the teams success.-Good communication skills – Able to understand goals and expectations; seeks to understand others and communicates effectively; listens actively and with an open mind; seeks out and responds effectively to feedback; listens well to others. .-Good organizational skills Understands the role and expectations and can work under supervision as well as organize one’s own time; can effectively plan the work of self; can problem solve effectively.-Professional – is credible, demonstrates integrity, works with others to solve issues and can makes good decisions-Self-starter – Identifying what needs to be done and doing it before being asked or before the situation requires it.
