These values define us and guide all the decisions we make.In this role you will be a valued member of the Dawson Group, working as a temporary, full-time, Human Resources Advisor reporting to: Manager, Human Resources. This is a maternity leave coverage from approximately January 2023 – February 2024. As the Human Resources Advisor, you are the main point of contact for managers for human resources related questions and advisement. Your base location will be Kamloops, BC however, the Dawson Group embraces distributed work, meaning the successful candidate will have the flexibility to work from home and/or at our office.WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Provides advisement and guidance to management and ensures consistency in the interpretation and application of the collective agreement on a wide range of labour relations topics and issues
  • Supports investigations of alleged misconduct, summarizes investigation, and recommends corrective action
  • Develops and maintains relationships with union representatives and participates in dialogue to resolve labour relations issues
  • Supports management with grievances, disciplinary meetings, and performance management
  • Acts as the HR representative on Labour Management meetings
  • Supports recruitment processes and functions across the organization
  • Works closely with our third-part disability management provider on short term disability cases and accommodations
  • Helps to facilitate and provide internal manager education
  • Build and distribute reports on various HR metrics as needed
WHAT YOU BRING
  • University Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management or relevant field
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a Human Resources
  • Experience in collective agreement interpretation and Labour Relations an asset
  • Exposure to recruitment and selection methods for bargaining unit and excluded positions
  • Must be able to coach and guide managers on employee/labour relations issues
