See individual job postings for more information on each position.Interior Community Services (ICS) is a non-profit, accredited, multi service agency providing supported programming to people of all ages. Interior Community Services enriches the lives of individuals and families by providing integrated family support, individual life skills development, and safe, nurturing home environments designed to assist people to live to their potential in the community. At ICS we offer support and services to approximately 1,100 people a day, providing programs from prenatal to seniors. Interior Community Services offers a wide range of prevention and supports to children, youth and family, community living and affordable housing.The Children and Youth with Supportive Needs ProgramPosition: Family Support WorkerJob Type: Part-TimeHours of Work: 5 hrs/week. Requires flexible availability including evenings.Salary: $24.48 - $28.52 per hour (Grid 12 as per collective agreement)This position provides group and individualized services to children and youth with special needs aged 6-18 years, and their families based on individual and family needs. As well they facilitate a weekly 2 hour group session that focuses on enhancing life skills, emotional regulation, and social skills by facilitating activities that foster these skills in a natural and fun way. The Family Support Worker will ensure that parents/caregivers are involved in all of the learning that their child is engaged in and allow parents/caregivers to participate in group sessions to observe, learn, and support their child with new techniques and strategies.Family Navigation ProgramPosition: Family Support WorkerJob Type: Permanent Part TimeHours of Work: 5 hrs/weekSalary: $24.48 - $28.52 per hour (Grid 12 as per collective agreement)The Family Support Worker supports vulnerable families who are pregnant and/or have children 0-6 to access needed intervention and support services. Responsibilities include supporting families to navigate systems, providing resources to community services/resources, providing consultation and group facilitation. This position will work collaboratively with other early childhood community resources to reach out to, and educate families (attending other groups etc.).Healthy Beginnings ProgramPosition: Family Support WorkerJob Type: Permanent Part TimeHours of Work: 7 hrs/week.Salary: $24.48 - $28.52 per hour (Grid 12 as per collective agreement)This program is a weekly drop-in program for families with children 0-6. Responsibilities include creating early childhood programming, coaching and modeling appropriate parenting, providing childhood development education and community resource referrals. The worker is also responsible for purchasing and preparing snack for the groupThe Youth Justice programPosition: Family Support WorkerJob Type: Permanent Part TimeHours of Work: 17 hrs/week. Requires flexible availability including evenings and weekends.Salary: $24.48 - $28.52 per hour (Grid 12 as per collective agreement)The Youth Justice/Case Aid program provides an alternative-to-custody sentencing option for youth in conflict with the law, and/or supports the re-integration of young offenders in the community following a period in custody. The Youth Justice Worker assists youth to address factors leading to their illegal behaviours and improve their functioning in the community. This role provides support and monitoring to youth in complying with the conditions of their probation order, and assists the Youth Probation team in providing supervision to young offenders in the community.Supervised and Supported VisitationPosition: Family Support WorkerJob Type: Permanent Part TimeHours of Work: 32.5 hrs week. Requires flexible availability including evenings and weekends.Salary: $24.48 - $28.52 per hour (Grid 12 as per collective agreement)This position ensures the safety of children and youth visiting their parents and/or family members while providing coaching and educational advice to appropriately parent and maintain healthy relationships. Provides support in a variety of settings within the community. This is an outreach position which includes the transportation of clients.Merritt Mosaic Day ProgramPosition: Family Support WorkerJob Type: Permanent Full TimeHours of Work: 35 hrs/week.Salary: $21.63 - $25.19 per hour (Grid 10 as per collective agreement)The Day Program supports adults with diverse abilities in their daily life skills including physical, vocational, recreational, social, and emotional development. Assists participants/clients to connect with the community and to achieve the greatest degree of independence and quality of life possible. Must be able to perform personalcare.Child and Family ServicesPosition: Program CoordinatorJob Type: Permanent Full TimeHours of Work: 40 hrs/weekSalary: $28.39 - $33.06 per hour (Grid 14 as per collective agreement)The Program Coordinator role oversees the day to day operations of the family support worker team in the ICS Merritt office within the Family Service, Family Preservation, Case Aid, CYSN, Teen Centre and Supervised and Supportive Visitation programs. This position works collaboratively with MCFD, staff, clients, stakeholders and community professionals. Under the supervision of the Director, this role will monitor program budgets, evaluate program effectiveness and conduct program development. The Program Coordinator will also be expected to support a small number of families directly through front line work.Additional Benefits (available to staff who are scheduled for 20 hours or more per week)

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Diploma in the Human/Social service field and related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must have current CPR-C, Suicide Awareness (safeTALK) and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (MANDT) training.
  • Must have valid Class 5 driver’s license, safe driving record and own reliable vehicle insured with Business Use/ 5 Million liability.
  • Requires COVID vaccination
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong communication, documentation and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate good time management
  • Strong knowledge and skills of implementing current research based theories, methods and interventions related to individuals/families dealing with issues of violence, addictions and mental health as well as working with adults and youth with behavioral plans
  • Ability to assess and identify individual and/or family strengths, challenges and risks and assist families to determine and achieve goals
  • Strong ability to provide crisis management when required
  • Strong ability to conduct group facilitations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with social workers and community professionals
  • Demonstrated professionalism, ethical decision making and accountability
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration and conflict management skills
  • Must be able to travel to areas identified within our contracts.
