We are looking for an adventurous BC licensed Primary Care Paramedic that want to be part of a busy mine location. You can expect a supportive work environment which includes a competitive wage and benefits package.PLEASE SEE COMPLETE JOB DESCRIPTION BELOWHours of work: This position is a fly in fly out, rotating shift, full-time position.Start date: ASAPDeadline for Applications: December 1, 2022Please send resume and cover letter to:Email: a.king@infinityindustrialsafety.ca or hr@infinitymediservices.comONLY THE APPLICANTS WHO ARE SELECTED FOR AN INTERVIEW WILL BE CONTACTEDPurpose and Key FocusUse skills and expertise to provide emergency response, medical assessment, primary health care, chronic disease management, injury prevention, health promotion, medical referral, and coordinate emergency medical evacuations as needed for workers in Canada’s remote northern regions.Job SummaryPrimary Care Paramedics are responsible for transporting ill or injured patients from scenes of emergency and/or between facilities. They operate ambulances or other modes of transportation and assess emergency scenes and patients. Primary care paramedics may treat patients by administering some medications, utilizing basic life support (BLS) airway adjuncts, and engaging in semi-automated defibrillation. They may lead BLS crews in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes. Primary care paramedics also assist with ensuring that ambulances or other emergency medical services (EMS) vehicles, such as transfer vans, are properly stocked, and equipped.Key Responsibilities

  • Provide medical, trauma and first aid care to injured and ill staff.
  • Assist in arranging emergency medical evacuations, as needed.
  • Coordinate with local health officials in the event of a medical evacuation.
  • Maintain records of accidents, illness and injuries including recommendations for measures to avoid illness and injuries.
  • Ensure privacy for patients and confidentiality of personal information and medical records.
  • Assist the health and safety officer or Site Operations Manager in maintaining the health and safety plan and in keeping workers in good health.
  • Assist in the maintenance of emergency plans
  • Supervise the inventory checklist, ordering, receiving, and stocking of medical equipment, supplies, and medications of the first aid station
  • Complete forms, documentation and reports as required by the relevant workers’ compensation board and conduct any required follow-up
  • Maintain a daily log of activities and patient care
  • Assist in administrative duties including documentation update, client reporting system and other duties assigned by the client representative
  • Recommends additional or specialized medical treatment when necessary.
  • Promotes and maintains the health and wellness of workers.
  • Identifies hazards in the workplace; recommends ways to reduce and prevent hazardous exposures on the job.
  • Conducts training for first aid, safety, CPR, and health programs.
  • Presents recommendations for tasks that can be potentially hazardous to workers.
  • Maintains current knowledge of industrial safety and medical best practices.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to administer medical aid in emergency situations.
  • Ability to work in high pressure situations and remain calm in medical emergencies.
  • Extensive knowledge of nursing principles and procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of workplace hazards and safety risks.

Education & Experience
  • Currently certified as a primary care paramedic in BC
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of primary care paramedic experience
  • Strong assessment skills
  • Excellent written and verbal English and good communication skills
  • Current certifications in BLS, ITLS, WHMIS, TDG and OFA3
  • Proficiency in use of medical records software and office software such as MS Word and Excel
  • This mine is extremely remote and requires a drive through Alaska to get to site, valid passport or alternate ID will need to be provided.
