Job Description

Type:Permanent Full-TimeLocation:MerrittJob Title: Program Coordinator – Child and Family Services Merritt (Full-time)Interior Community Services (ICS) is a non-profit, accredited, multi service agency providing supported programming to people of all ages. Interior Community Services enriches the lives of individuals and families by providing integrated family support, individual life skills development, and safe, nurturing home environments designed to assist people to live to their potential in the community. At ICS we offer support and services to approximately 1,100 people a day, providing programs from prenatal to seniors. Interior Community Services offers a wide range of prevention and supports to children, youth and family, community living and affordable housing.Job Summary: The Program Coordinator role oversees the day to day operations of the family support worker team in the ICS Merritt office within the Family Service, Family Preservation, Case Aid, CYSN, Teen Centre and Supervised and Supportive Visitation programs. This position works collaboratively with MCFD, staff, clients, stakeholders and community professionals. Under the supervision of the Director, this role will monitor program budgets, evaluate program effectiveness and conduct program development. The Program Coordinator will also be expected to support a small number of families directly through front line work.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates and assesses programs effectiveness and efficiencies and identifies areas of growth. Works in collaboration with the Program Director to address needs and concerns through program development.
  • Work collaboratively with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) Children and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN), staff, clients and community professionals to achieve the goals and objectives of the program.
  • Participates in hiring program staff: screening applicants, creating interview questions, and participating on interview panels.
  • Provides orientation, training, supervision and coaching to program staff to ensure staff’s continual competence and quality service delivery.
  • Supervises program staff by assigning work, providing timely feedback and communication. Provides regular supervision/coaching and monitors and evaluates staff performance. Refers disciplinary matters to Program Director.
  • Ensures program documentation, statistics, outcomes evaluation and reports required through accreditation or agency standards, or funder contracts are maintained and produced within specified timelines.
  • Provides services to the children, youth and family members in a variety of settings.
  • Collaborates with the parent and/or family to clarify roles/responsibilities and expectations of the program and the social worker.
  • Educates and coaches parents in attachment, parenting, child development, communication, problem solving and life skills.
Job Type: Permanent Full TimeLocation: Merritt, BCHours of Work: 40 hrs/ week. Requires flexible availability including evenings and weekends. May include participation in the Call On Supervision rotation 2 to 3 weekends per year.Salary and Benefits
  • $28.39 - $33.06 per hour (Grid 14 as per collective agreement)

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Diploma in related human/social service field and three (3) years recent related experience, including one (1) year leadership experience. Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must have current First Aid with CPR-C.
  • SafeTALK, MANDT, Naloxone, Medication Management and Safe Food Handling is required.
  • Must have valid Class 5 driver’s license, safe driving record and own reliable vehicle insured with Business Use/ 5 Million liability.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Significant experience supporting individuals and families using a family systems and strength based approach
  • Strong demonstrated skills in therapeutic methods and interventions related to individuals/families
  • Strong demonstrated supervision of staff – performance management, evaluation, teambuilding etc.
  • Strong ability to provide crisis management
  • Significant experience in program development and integrated case management
  • Experience monitoring budgets, and outcomes reporting
  • Ability to work collaboratively with program stakeholders including social workers and community professionals
  • Strong communication, documentation and writing skills
  • Ability to assess and identifying family, strengths, risks and challenges and intervene appropriately
  • Demonstrated professionalism, ethical decision making and accountability
  • Strong conflict management skills and ability to facilitate communication within the team
  • Must be able to travel frequently within the area serviced by the mandate of these program
