Join our team today.Position OverviewA unique and exciting opportunity exists to join the City’s Social and Community Development portfolio within the Community and Protective Services Department. The Project Manager – Housing and Homelessness position is responsible for administering federal Reaching Home funds to community programs and services focused on reducing and ending homelessness in Kamloops. Roles and responsibilities include managing projects and contracts, reporting to Service Canada, supporting a Community Advisory Board (CAB), and liaising with non-profit service providers, funders, internal City departments, and other key stakeholders. If you are someone who has experience in managing projects and a passion for working collaboratively across sectors to help address social issues affecting community, this may be the position for you!The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • Completion of a university degree with any combination of study concentrations in business administration, project management, economics, geography, sociology, community development, planning or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year current (within the last 3 years) experience in community development and/or housing and homelessness initiatives.
  • Knowledge of municipal government structure and federal and provincial government granting programs and reporting processes.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of project management principles and administrative detail, including report writing, budgeting/fiscal responsibility, process mapping, and monitoring/evaluation of grant or grant type agreements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), including the ability to clearly, confidently, and professionally present information in diverse environments.
  • Ability to exercise courtesy, tact, diplomacy, and cultural sensitivity when working with sub-project representatives, social agencies, Indigenous organizations, Service Canada, City of Kamloops, Community Advisory Board, other stakeholders, and the public.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License - Class 5 Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with provincial and national housing and homelessness initiatives, poverty committees and/or social agencies.
  • Knowledge of social and community development, including supports and services for vulnerable populations and people experiencing homelessness.
  • Project management experience related to accounting, cost tracking, and financial monitors of sub- projects
