In addition to Medical, Dental and Extended Health coverage, we offer a defined pension plan and paid vacation starting at 4 weeks to a maximum of 7 weeks annually.About the role:The Regional Project Lead acts as the liaison and single point of contact for projects at various facilities within the assigned region of Interior Health. The Regional Project Lead is the main conduit for information, queries, and concerns from stakeholders regarding plant services or general infrastructure as it relates to the projects. The Regional Project Lead attends meetings, provides information, and develops written responses in very constrained timelines and with limited direction. This is a ‘hands-on’ role that utilizes the Regional Project Lead’s technical knowledge, along with organizational and communication skills, allowing results to be produced in a fast-paced project environment. This position is responsible for managing and directly supervising the activities of designated maintenance personnel and external contractors.TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plant Services Liaison – Acts as the single point of contact for plant services and general infrastructure queries for the project, ensuring the Plant Manager or other contacts are involved in the process and updated as required. Determines key and secondary stakeholders to be involved in any project deliverables. Attends required meetings, ensuring Plant Services and general infrastructure information is provided or sought out. Keeps notes and reviews minutes thoroughly for discrepancies.
  • Documentation Resource – Obtains, maintains, and consolidates current copies of all drawings, plans, manuals, proposals, and similar building and systems information in hard copies and/or electronic versions. This may be required to be in a format that is appropriate for controlled review or for transfer/handover. Seeks clarification of all drawings where unfamiliar. Requests explicit explanations of terms and symbols, and reviews drawings against the minutes taken during meetings.
  • Facilities and Equipment Coordination – Develops a comprehensive compilation of maintenance and lifecycle records and requirements, considering maintenance files, third party assessments, and other information sources. Establishes equipment lists and other inventory analysis, tagging or otherwise identifying equipment required to support the objectives of the project. This includes fixed and mobile program and infrastructure equipment. Coordinates the classification and relocation of existing equipment with internal and external stakeholders as needed. Coordinates equipment arrivals and installation. Liaises with IMIT to determine computer, telephone, fax, or other IT/telecom requirements and relocation.
  • Project Support – Develops responses to Requests for Information from proponents with high volumes and limited response times. Uses judgement to involve consultants or other subject matter experts as needed in order to provide high accuracy in responses. Identifies, communicates, and mitigates potential risk management issues. Identifies hazards to the public, staff, and patients that may occur during, or as a result of, construction. Initiates specification development, planning, minor works, or other project requirements that may be necessary, obtaining all approvals and utilizing subject matter experts where required.
  • Management of staff – Manages project staff including hiring, performance, discipline, termination, and grievance procedures. Supports staff through training, orientation, guidance and implementation of effective processes and guidelines.
  • Recommends, develops and maintains relevant policies and procedures. Provides quality services in a timely cost effective manner by planning, directing, coordinating and recruiting, providing management, leadership and supervision of Plant Services Staff. The Project Lead manages capital & maintenance improvement projects under $100,000 and works closely with Facilities Management on capital projects over $100,000.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
  • A Trades qualification or Power Engineering certificate.
  • A minimum of five to seven years of experience in construction and project management with a minimum of three years in the healthcare industry.
  • A PMP designation would be considered a strong asset.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to collaborate and lead within a team environment, as well as the ability to work independently when required.
  • Mechanical knowledge.
  • Proven supervisory skills, preferably in a unionized setting.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to facilitate, negotiate, and persuade others both internal and external to the organization, often in stressful environments.

  • Strong computer skills, specifically knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Valid BC Driver’s licence.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
