  • Reports to the Executive Director
  • Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • 1. Works directly with guests and acts as a knowledgeable resource for community services
  • 2. Follows OOTC Policy & Procedure Manual protocols
  • 3. Acts as a positive role model for guests
  • 4. Recognizes potential crisis situations and follows OOTC/H policies and procedures
  • 5. Recognizes potential emergency situations, analyzes situations accurately and informs Executive Director as per OOTC/H policy and procedures
  • 6. Assists guests with daily life skills
  • 7. Provides emotional support and feedback to guests
  • 8. Maintains clear and concise written/verbal documentation skills
  • 9. Provides some liaising with other agencies and the community service providers.
  • 10. Fosters positive working relationships with staff members.
  • 11. Provides lay counseling support and basic life skills training to guests.
  • 12. Takes active part in the preparation & distribution of dinner and breakfast meals. On occasion prepares meals, snacks, etc. with safe food handling and preparation, safety and health standards.
  • 13. Ensures that work (and service delivery) environment are kept up to Covid-19 & Health Authority standards of cleanliness
  • 14. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of internal fire regulations and procedures, and other emergency procedures. Ensures health and safety standards are maintained.
  • 15. Holds a valid: Food Safe Certificate, First Aid Certificate
  • 16. Able to obtain an acceptable (ED approved) Criminal Record Check
  • 17. Performs other related duties as required.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, CasualSalary: $22.00-$24.00 per hourSchedule:
  • 12 hour shift
  • Evening shift
  • Night shift
  • On call
  • Weekend availability
Ability to commute/relocate:
  • Kamloops, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Education:
  • DCS / DEC (preferred)
Experience:
  • support worker: 2 years (required)
Language:
  • English (required)
Licence/Certification:
  • First Aid Certification (required)
Shift availability:
  • Night Shift (preferred)
  • Overnight Shift (preferred)
