Job Description

We love what we do, and we are always seeking enthusiastic talent to join our team.Reporting to the Kamloops Operations Manager, the Sprinkler Lead will be responsible for planning, leading, and participating in a wide variety of in-field fire services such as installing, inspecting, maintaining, modifying, and servicing fire sprinkler systems. Some of the additional expectations of this role include:

  • Reading and interpret blueprints, evaluating plans diagrams, specifications, schematics, and operational/product manuals in relation to work to be completed;
  • Preparing Estimates and Bids for New Construction and Maintenance
  • Preparing take offs of material and labour requirements for work scopes;
  • Assigning work to team members based on individual competencies as well as work scope and materials requirements;
  • Liaising with clients along with, on-site supervision to ensure high levels of customer service and effective communication;
  • Ensuring preparation and ordering of stock materials for execution of assigned daily work orders and optimizing material utilization;
  • Examining and inspecting work progress, equipment, and worksites to ensure client specifications are met;
  • Ensuring all work is executed using safe work practices and safety leadership is demonstrated in all aspects of the job;
  • Completing daily reports of completed work orders and activities;
  • Training and mentoring other team members including apprentices and field service labour;
  • Performing in-field sprinkler commissioning, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance and on systems to including fire sprinkler wet systems, fire sprinkler dry systems, fire sprinkler pre-action systems, fire pumps, fire hydrants, backflow preventers and special hazard systems; and
  • Participating in 24/7 on-call/call out emergency service.
The successful candidate must be a professional, highly motivated, self-starter with a keen attention to detail and have the ability lead others to safely execute high quality work on-time, every time. They will bring with them strong communication and customer service skills, with an ability to work both collaboratively with team members, as well as independently, to deliver high quality service and support to our customers. Given the service and solutions focus of our business, they will also be able to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and flexibility to address changing situations and priorities. An ability to operate various power tools and machinery including but not limited to pipe threaders, pipe cutters, groovers and core drills; knowledge of relevant fire codes and standards; demonstrated mindset towards continuous learning, as well as an ability to use/learn technology solutions in the execution of their work is a must. They must also possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to and work out of remote client sites. Overtime may be necessary; therefore, flexibility in hours of work will be required.A candidate with a minimum of 5 years’ field experience across various industries and Red Seal Sprinkler Fitter certification, along with applicable fire service certifications or jurisdictional regulatory permits, would be preferred. Demonstrated experience leading work teams is required.
