  • Degree in the natural resource field (i.e. environmental studies, agriculture, forestry, engineering, land planning, land use economics etc.) and a minimum of two (2) years’ demonstrated experience working in natural resource management; OR,
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience is a technical diploma (i.e. environmental studies, agriculture, forestry, engineering, land planning, land use economics, etc.) and four (4) years’ experience in natural resource management, or six (6) years’ progressive experience, supplemented with education in natural resource management.
Experience:Two (or more) years of demonstrated experience, obtained within the last five years, working in natural resource management including each of the following:
  • Negotiating and mediating solutions with partners in natural resource management;
  • Comprehensive experience in regulatory management in the applicable natural resource field (i.e., agriculture, forestry, engineering, land planning, land management, etc.);
  • Experience managing technical and/or professional staff in resource management; and,
  • Experience supervising, leading, coaching and mentoring staff.
Preference may be given to applicants with one or both of the following:
  • Experience in performing technical duties under, and working with, legislation, regulations and agreements associated with Crown land management, i.e.: Land Act; Ministry of Lands, Parks and Housing Act; Land Title and Survey Authority Act; Land Title Act; Land Survey Act; and/or,
  • Experience in participating in consultations/negotiations with First Nations.
Provisos:
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
  • May require the operation of a variety of equipment.
  • A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
