Powered by passionate people, we bring the right teams with the right skills together – offering both experience and regional expertise so companies can operate their day to day, confidently and successfully.Job DescriptionWHAT’S THE JOBJoin our NRB Modular Solutions team, where our people are driven by a desire to innovate, do social good, and move construction forward.As a Subcontracts Specialist, reporting to the Subcontracts Lead, you will be responsible for providing senior contract management expertise throughout the planning, design, procurement, construction and start-up stages of the Modular Solutions’ project lifecycle in accordance with policies and procedures. Relative to the sourcing and issuance of supplier contracts, the you will serve as a single-point-of contact for the Project Managers and Project Execution support teams – to serve as a trusted advisor, and to provide senior commercial and contractual advice throughout contract lifecycle. You will also advise, mentor, guide, and direct the work of Contracts Administrators as required.Your work will include:

  • Contribute to front-end project planning activities: attend project kick-off meetings; draft and administer the project’s Contracts Plan (in accordance with Project Execution Plan); identify commercial opportunities and risks and recommend advantageous sourcing/contracting strategies.
  • Development and execution of go-to-market strategies and drafting or overseeing all RFx activities (preparation, issuance, evaluation, award).
  • Drafting and stewarding for approval commercial recommendations for award.
  • Drafting or overseeing contract formation and negotiation activities.
  • Chairing and minuting kick-off meetings with suppliers.
  • Manage all post-award contract administration (including contract change management). Manage subcontract claims with the Subcontracts Lead and the Project Manager along with other Stakeholders, such as Legal Council, Finance, and as appropriate and required for the claim.
  • Throughout contract lifecycle, ensure supplier compliance to policies, qualification requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Accountable and responsible for optimizing NRBs commercial position while maintaining a strong relationship with its client and project partners.
  • Lead the strategic identification of ‘partner’ suppliers within tiered model. Establish and maintain senior level relationships with partner suppliers; negotiate advantageous (and jointly beneficial) Master Service Agreements which formalize cost-saving opportunities. Serve as ‘relationship manager’ to these critical partnership agreements; schedule and chair regular Quarterly Business Review Meetings which will drive continuous relationship improvement – increased efficiencies, innovation, and cost-savings/value-creation opportunities.
  • Manage the maintenance of reportable savings throughout contracts’ lifecycle.

  • Degree or designation in a related field (combination of education and relevant experience would be considered).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with contracts in supply chain management.
  • Demonstrated experience with, and strong knowledge of, construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Western Canadian construction contractor market.
  • Previous experience in residential and commercial construction is an asset.
  • Previous experience with contract management systems and supplier management systems. Demonstrated ability to employ and adopt technology solutions to add value to our work.
  • Previous experience with document control tool ACONEX is an asset.
  • Proficient understanding of contractual and technical terms.
  • Understanding of Contract Law and the legal principles related to contract drafting/interpretation
  • Understanding of the various construction contract models (ex. lump sum, reimbursable, time and materials, etc.).
