ROLE:We are looking for a hardworking and motivated individual to join our construction teams as a Traffic Control Person on our Trans Mountain Expansion Project. Traffic Control Personnel are the workers holding a flag for a traffic or construction site. However, they are much more than that! They build a safe environment for construction/repair projects by controlling vehicle traffic. As a Traffic Control Person, you will help notify drivers of the need for reduced speeds or restricted lane flow. As such, you'd play a key role in crafting and maintaining safe construction sites.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform various general traffic control activities such as:Unload and set up traffic controls and safety equipmentDirect traffic safely through as per applicable regulationsCommunicate clearly with partnerOperate remote walky-talky (if needed)Perform spotting for various types of equipment as well as overhead powerlinesRelay any public inquiries to our client Trans Mountain ExpansionNote: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:QualificationsValid and current Traffic Control Person (TCP) ticket in British Columbia.Various safety tickets/certificates as required depending on project.ExperiencePrevious experience is required. :Skills and KnowledgeKnowledge of pipeline construction industry is considered an asset.Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures.Knowledge of handling hazardous materials and industry waste.Good vision and hand-eye coordination.Physically able to stand in same place for extended periods of timeManual dexterity.WORKING CONDITIONS:SMJV offers a supportive work environment where hard work and a positive attitude are rewarded.Our values Never Harm, Trust, Integrity and Assured Delivery guide everything we do, from the initial planning phase to project completion.
