Job Description

The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass is Canadas southerly traveled corridor of the Rocky Mountains and is historically known for its scenic land of forests and peaks. Nestled in the southwest corner of Alberta, Crowsnest Pass offers all the amenities you need to live, work and play. Friendly people, good facilities, great restaurants, amazing outdoor recreation and services, and an excellent quality of life.Crowsnest Pass Senior Housing (CPSH), operating as the housing management body is a not-for-profit senior housing organization, seeking a dynamic Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).The CAO is accountable to the Board of Directors for successful leadership, which managing CPSH according to the goals and strategic direction set by the Board.The successful candidate will:

  • Be a proven effective and confident Leader
  • Have gained extensive administrative experience with Seniors Supportive Living, Seniors Independent Living, Family and Affordable Housing Programs and other industry related programs.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of Not-for-Profit Board Governance Practices
  • Have demonstrated public relations ability
  • Be adept in labor relations, human resource management and team building
The CAO achieves this accountability by:
  • Participating with the Board of Directors in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide CPSH
  • Leading the development of Business Plans and long-term budgeting for Board approval
  • Identifying, assessing, and informing the Board of internal and external issues that affect the organization.
  • Acting as a professional advisor to the Board on all aspects of the organizations activities
  • Fostering collaborative, effective teamwork between the Board and the CAO and between the CAO and staff.
  • Gaining the respect and trust of staff by using transparent and shared decision making
  • Communicating effectively and on a regular basis to provide direction and guidance
  • In addition to the Chair of the Board, acting as a spokesperson for CPSH
  • Conducting official correspondence on behalf of the Board and jointly with the Board when appropriate
  • Representing CPSH at community activities to enhance the community profile of CPSH
Requirements include:
  • Operational Planning which incorporates goals and objectives that work towards the strategic direction of CPSH
  • Collaboration with managers to provide input into strategic planning, and operational improvements and efficiencies.
  • Provision of oversight in a collaborative manner to provide a safe and inviting environment for residents.
  • Promoting unity and collaboration among all staff for a seamless delivery of high-quality services to residents of CPSH.
  • Determining staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery
  • Establishing a positive, healthy, and safe work environment in accordance with CUPE agreements, Employment standards and Human Right legislation.
  • Coaching and mentoring management staff and other staff as appropriate to improve performance
  • Disciplining and terminating staff when necessary, using progressive disciplinary principles.
  • Collaborative oversight to ensure sound financial practices are consistently maintained.
  • Collaboration with Departmental Managers and the Board to prepare a comprehensive budget
  • Ensuring sound bookkeeping, and accounting procedures are followed
  • Providing the Board with comprehensive, regular reports including the revenues and expenditures of CPSH
  • Developing appropriate working relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Routine assessment of threats in mitigation of risks.
  • Collaboration with management team to implement contingency plans to ensure seamless continuation of operation during crises and emergencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of three or more years of progressive management experience in a related field.
