Whatever path they’re on, we take pride in helping them achieve their goals while they’re helping us achieve ours.We are seeking a Construction Safety Officer who will ensure safety protocols are adhered to on a high-rise construction site. Working collaboratively with the project team, the CSO will be responsible for ensuring compliance of the health and safety of our staff and trades. The ideal candidate cares about safe work practices through enforcing procedures and shares our commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.This role works directly onsite of a concrete residential high-rise project. Being comfortable working at heights is a requirement.What you’ll do:

  • Monitor and assess hazardous and unsafe situations on site
  • Review all subcontractor’s safety plans and ensure compliance with site staff
  • Enforce policies and practices to establish a culture of health and safety on site
  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
  • Monitor compliance of policies and OHS legislation through direct observation on site
  • Conduct site orientations and toolbox meetings
  • Maintain and update daily logs through internal programs
  • Participate in Planning Meetings to identify any health and safety concerns inherent in daily operation work-plan
  • Conduct frequent site inspections to ensure a hazard-free environment
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics
  • Other responsibilities as required
What you’ll bring:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a CSO, preferably in high-rise construction with tower crane experience
  • CSO Certification, Gold Seal Safety Coordinator, or other comparable safety certification is preferred
  • Experience working for a prime contractor is an asset
  • Able to manage multiple trades safety paperwork and digital footprint
  • Level 3 first aid is an asset
  • Knowledge of COR Audit process is an asset
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suites and Safety programs
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with staff and trades
