Job Description

It is acknowledged that Central Okanagan Public Schools operates within the unceded, Traditional Territory of the Okanagan syilx peoples. The School District enrolls approximately 24,000 students (including over 3,000 students who self-identify as having Indigenous ancestry). Central Okanagan Public Schools is located in the Central Okanagan encompassing the communities of Peachland, West Kelowna, Kelowna, and Lake Country. There are a total of 51 school sites with 33 Elementary Schools, 8 Middle schools, 5 Secondary Schools, 3 Learning Centres, an Alternate Education School, and an Online Learning School (K-12). Central Okanagan Public Schools has an excellent reputation of providing outstanding, student-centered programs in a diverse and inclusive environment as well as offering a wide range of educational opportunities for its students and staff.We invite applications for the position of:Financial Data FacilitatorUnder the general direction of the Assistant Secretary-Treasurer, provides financial data services and support to the Ministry of Education, schools and district staff.The Financial Data Facilitator will oversee student information including various data collection systems; provide services to district and school administrators that involve all aspects of the collection, organization, maintenance and reporting of student information and records; respond to requests from the Ministry of Education, district and school administrators for the collection and submission of district-wide student data; and be responsible for understanding how the student data system functions. This position will also include creating and administering online surveys upon request. The Financial Data Facilitator will also prepare and provide a variety of reports.This assignment will also include coordinating the Districts rental of facilities (maintaining records, databases, insurance), general accounting duties as required, as well as some reception duties for the School Board Office.Applicants must have:

  • completed Grade 12 (Senior Secondary School Graduation);
  • successfully complete one (1) year of post-secondary education, which include courses in Business, Computer Information System, or equivalent;
  • two (2) years recent experience working with databases, including the ability to create queries, generate reports and merge variable data;
  • knowledge and experience in the administration of a central student information system with an emphasis on security of the system;
- knowledge and experience with word processing skills - Microsoft Office (i.e. Word) as well as Sharepoint/Outlook;
  • Excel (must be able to demonstrate proficiency with Excel);
  • excellent communication skills and a professional attitude along with the ability to develop new skills
and work independently.The following would be considered an asset:
  • knowledge and experience with bookkeeping;
  • a working knowledge and understanding of FOIPOP legislation as it pertains to student records.
