Job Description

HDD LOCATOR - TELECOMGCS General Contracting Services has immediate openings for experienced HDD Locators in telecom for work in the Kelowna, Kamloops, Vernon areas.We offer competitive wages, health and dental benefits, Employee Assistant Program (EAP), company matching RRSP and other compensation incentives.*RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Read and interpret plans, locates or diagrams and perform required work;
  • Locator and Drill Operator will work together to determine the bore path, and operate the directional drill to place cables and /or conduit;
  • Locate to specifications on drawings and locates;
  • Spot drill through the drilling process to ensure clearance of utilities and alignment with bore path;
  • The locator is responsible for all communications with the supervisor and other drilling personnel;
  • Participate in site safety including pre-job orientations, tailgate meetings, ensure all safety paperwork is accurate and complete;
  • Submit daily logs to the Project Coordinator at the end of each shift;
  • Responsible for ensuring permits are valid and completing tickets;
  • Other drilling / labour tasks as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have 3+ years experience locating for fibre installation / shallow utilities;
  • Experience with Subsite location;
  • Familiar with locating and drilling an asset;
  • Sound decision making / problem solving skills;
  • Read and interpret plans, locates or diagrams and perform required work;
  • Valid Class 5 license with clean drivers abstract;
  • Must be able to work in varied weather conditions;
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting +50lbs;
  • Strong work ethic;
  • Ability to think and react to changing conditions quickly;
  • Safety conscious;
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand eye coordination
  • Ability to work in a fast- paced environment with tight deadlines and repetitive tasks.

  • CSTS 2020 (required)
  • Ground Disturbance – Supervisor Level 2 (required)
