This position partners with HR and managers to develop policies and procedures, review activities and statistics, conduct internal audits and implement programs to ensure consistency, compliance and continuous improvement.The Health & Safety Officer will be a member of our corporate Joint Health, Safety and Environmental Committee (JHSEC) and will mentor MAKRs to enhance our internal safety knowledge by spearheading our key programs and initiatives. With a keen interest in trends and technology applicable to our business, the Health and Safety Coordinator stays current on best practices in health and safety and how to apply that to enhance the physical and mental well-being of all MAKRs.Although no two days are the same, here are the activities you’ll focus on:· Implementation of Safety Orientation for new hires· Responsible for creation, updating and communication of the company Policy Manual· Management of WorkSafeBC claims· Monthly building inspections· Membership on the Joint Health and Safety Committee· Applicable certification (ISO, COR, SECOR) auditsDo you have formal training in Occupational Health and Safety Do you hold a valid First Aid certificate that has come in handy as a member of a safety committee Are you passionate about everyone going home in one piece at the end of the dayWe’re a different kind of company and we’re looking for a different kind of individual to join our team!
