Our Winery is in the heart of Kelowna between downtown and Knox Mountain, Calona Winery has the distinction of being British Columbias original winery. As a pioneer in the BC wine industry, Calona leads the way to higher levels of craftsmanship and professionalism. Calonas wines are award-winning, rivaling the worlds most established names to prove the Okanagan Valley is at the international forefront of fine wine production.Reporting into the QC Manager, the Lab Technician will be responsible for various assigned lab activities during our busy harvest period.We offer:

What You Offer:
  • Two years completion of course work towards diploma or degree in Food Science, Chemistry or Biochemistry or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Training in chemistry, food analysis, quality control, and computer use preferred
  • Ability to work independently and actively support and promote a culture focused on Health and Safety
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to HACCP requirements and GMP
  • Able to keep accurate records
  • Reliable and able to demonstrate the ability to manage attendance and willing to work all shifts.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holiday work required with increased frequency during harvest
What You will be Doing:
  • Chemical analysis of wine
  • Follow non-conformance procedures
  • Data entry, prepare reports, communicate summarized data in a timely manner
  • Ensure the proper disposal of all hazardous, chemical waste
  • Various other laboratory duties as specified by supervisor
  • Able to work effectively with Supervisors and co-workers to maximize performance, quality, and safety initiatives using a team-oriented approach
  • Maintains a safe work environment
This is a Unionized role and belongs to the SEIU Local 2 Branch Local 300 Union.Starting Hourly Rate: $27.98 effective June 1, 2022.
