Job Description

Job SummaryThe Constructions Supervisor is responsible for completing their assigned projects within established deadlines and budgets while managing a crew and their production along with material management & safety requirements.Responsibilities

  • Complete jobs using a variety of tools and equipment safely and effectively
    • Power tools, tampers, cut-off saws
    • Mobile equipment: skid steer, excavator, conveyor belts, etc...
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working order and complete minor maintenance as required
    • Ensure work truck is in good condition (clean, well maintained, etc.)
  • Supervise and train assigned crews
    • Direct as required
    • Provide minor disciplinary action when required, major offence disciplinary action in conjunction with Human Resources and the LC Field or Operations Manager
    • Ensure employee safety on site by following Company and WCB policy mandates
    • Complete employee performance reviews and pay change forms as required
    • Complete employee time punching using the real-time payroll software
  • Make decisions concerning work methods with assigned jobs
  • Oversee FLRA, Inspections, Checklists and Toolbox Talks as required
    • Enforce and make changes to ensure safety on site
    • Ensure timely submission of completed documents to Safety Coordinator
  • Providing exceptional customer service and maintaining positive working relationships with customers and coworkers
  • Review the status of jobs and obtain any clarifications prior to processing in the field
  • Complete material requests
  • Complete change and extra work orders as assigned
  • Supervise the loading and unloading of materials
  • Enforce safety regulations, ensuring all COR and WCB requirements are met
  • Check and evaluate all work when completed
  • Complete all required paperwork and reports per your worksite binder in a timely manner
  • Attend all pre-site meetings and foreperson meetings as required
  • Pursue ongoing education sponsored by the Company as required
  • Participate in all Company-sponsored events as required
Job Specifications Education
  • Significant trades education or comparable experience
  • Completion of the Heavy Trailer Endorsement (ICBC) an asset
  • Red Seal in Landscaping/Horticulture an asset
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ industry experience in applicable progressive roles
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a leadership role
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Computer literate
    • Ability to use basic Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Ability to use Adobe PDF, iPhone applications, real-time payroll software
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with people in a variety of circumstances and from various backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possess a thorough, organized and detail-oriented approach to work
  • High level of customer service
  • Plan, prioritize and coordinate, multi-task, and complete work assignments within prescribed deadlines
  • Able to apply effective time management and self-management skills. Able to be flexible in position requiring timely response
  • Basic Accounting/budget/job-costing reporting skills
  • Ability to foster a cooperative working environment
  • Ability read technical reports, construction documents and technical knowledge of industry components and their function
  • Knowledge of contract documents and specifications
  • Ability to maintain and complete project records
  • Ability to compile data and information for report preparation
  • Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating and fiscal management principles and procedures
Physical Requirements
  • Apply physical dexterity with frequent bending, stretching, reaching, grabbing, holding, and carrying
  • Hear and speak to communicate with others
  • Frequently lifting 30-60lbs, as required
  • Standing, sitting, and walking for most of the day, sometimes on uneven surfaces or on stairs
Work EnvironmentMost of the work is performed outside on jobsites with exposure to dirt, dust, dampness, construction debris, possible extreme temperatures, noises, construction material fumes and odors. Some work inside in an office setting may be required from time to time.Quick Apply
