Central Okanagan Protective Services (C.O.P.S) is a well established and highly recognized company in the Security industry. We are a professional innovative leader in the forefront of Security, including but not limited to personal safety, asset protection, and VIP close protection. C.O.P.S is looking for a committed and passionate Security Guard to join our team. While experience is an asset it is not a requirement, however the individual would need to participate in a training program.Security Guard job description:Job duties and responsibilitiesAs a Security Guard, you will undertake the surveillance of our clients premises and the protection of staff and visitors. You will be responsible for the detection of suspicious activity and the prevention of vandalism, thefts or any other criminal behavior.-Inspect and patrol premises regularly-Monitor property entrance-Authorize entrance of people and vehicles -Report any suspicious behaviors and happenings-Secure all exits, doors and windows -Monitor surveillance cameras-Respond to alarms and react in a timely manner-Provide assistance to people in need-Submit reports of daily surveillance activity-Submit reports of every suspicious action Job requirements and qualifications-Current BST License (an asset)-Valid Driver’s License (an asset)-Experience as a Security Guard or similar role (an asset but not a requirement)-Good understanding of legal guidelines for area security and public safety-Follow radio and emergency telephone procedures;-Ensure safety and emergency procedures are followed-This is a physically demanding position with substantial walking and standing along with some possible bending and lifting-Able to lift 50 lbs comfortably-Some experience with report writing-Outstanding surveillance and observation skills-Attention to detail-Trained in First Aid/CPR and self-defense (an asset, but not a requirement)-Critical thinker and problem-solving skills-Team player-Good time-management skills-Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written- Ability to diffuse conflict situations -High School diploma or equivalent is required-Integrity and professionalism- Professional, friendly and outgoing personality with excellent customer service skills- Alert with an attention to detail and able to maintain professional integrity in a variety of situations- Solid work ethic, reliable and able to work effectively without supervision- Available to work all shifts which include weekends, early mornings, days, evenings and graveyards as required.
