Position InformationPosition Number L00046Position Title Vocational Instructor - Early Childhood EducationDivision/Portfolio Health and Social DevelopmentDepartment/Program Early Childhood EducationLocation KelownaOther Flexible Work OptionsYour OpportunityThe duties and responsibilities of a Vocational Instructor include continuing excellence in one’s field, instructional and professional duties, professional development and service.Functions and DutiesInstructional duties may include any or all of the following: instructional (teaching assignments); course and program preparation and revision; practicum placement; student contact; student advising; evaluation and marking of student work and other functions related to instruction.Professional duties may include any or all of the following: curriculum development, student registration and pre registration duties.Professional development is activity intended to promote teaching excellence, subject area competence and technical competence in the area of professional or instructional expertise.Service may include any or all of the following: school visitations; participation on OC committees; attendance at articulation meetings; representing OC at other function; administrative and other dutiesEducation and Experience1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. A Master’s Degree is preferred.2. A current License to practice as an Early Childhood Educator3. An Instructor’s Diploma or valid BC Teacher’s Certificate appropriate to the instructional assignment is preferred, and will be required following appointment in accordance with the Collective Agreement.1. Five or more years experience working with young children.4. Experience in curriculum development preferred.5. Established strong community partnerships will be considered an asset6. Several years recent teaching experience is an assetSkills and AbilitiesCandidates must be committed to a team approach, demonstrate good written and oral English skills and have good interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have an exceptional teaching record with demonstrated learner-centred teaching philosophy.
