Job Description

Do you have a passion a passion for fitness and getting people movingAre you a certified aquafit instructor or would like to become oneDo you want to be a part of a cause-driven organization that for 40 years has been dedicated to building healthy individuals and communitiesIf the following skills and passions apply to you, then you might just be perfect for this role!

  • Provide and/or support aquafit class instruction aligned with YMCA fitness standards, including necessary planning and preparation for all classes
  • Keeping your knowledge and certifications up-to-date about equipment, exercises and teaching techniques used in your classes
  • Work as part of a staff/volunteer team, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment
  • Provide excellent customer service and create an enjoyable experience, while building healthy relationships with our members
We’d love to hear from people with:
  • Experience with aquafit either as a participant or instructor
  • An aquafit instruction certification (YMCA or BCRPA) or participation and successful completion of the Y’s Basic Theory and Aquafit Certification Training (online training available)
  • Current CPR-C certification or willingness to obtain
  • Degree or diploma in a fitness related field an asset

  • Commitment to Mission, Vision and Values: Demonstrates and promotes a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission, vision, and values of the YMCA of Okanagan.
  • Service Orientated: Deliberately identifies and creates opportunities to enhance each and every individuals YMCA experience. Creates action plans to resolve any service gap areas.
  • Relationship Building and Collaboration: Builds positive interactions, listens attentively and communicates effectively to create an open communication environment. Share information, best practices, and resources with colleagues.
