Solving those problems starts with great design and user experiences, which is where you come in. We need a senior level UI/UX designer residing in the Calgary area who can shape the UI/UX process and experience for our current and upcoming product offerings. We need a collaborative UI/UX team player that is technically savvy and keen to build right sized processes infused with best practices in a well established and growing startup. You will:

  • Work with the team to lead and engage in full-cycle UI/UX from concept, prototype, design, to presentation of recommendations. This is inclusive of sketches, flow diagrams, wireframes, mockups and/or prototypes of features that serve different user segments.
  • Collaborate across UI/UX, Product Management, Creative Design, Development and QA to prototype, design and present solutions that solve business and user problems.
  • Use and leverage metrics to drive product design and measure product success.
  • Conduct user interviews, usability testing, and analysis to familiarize yourself with the market.

You should have:
  • 8+ years of UI/UX design and implementation experience, preferably in small/medium sized businesses; SaaS experience would be a plus.
  • A great eye and feel for user experience - you know when something is too complicated and have a knack for knowing what paradigms are best suited to solve a problem.
  • A practical approach to make sure business objectives are met while applying the right level of best practices.
  • Highly knowledgeable on UI/UX best practices; implement with thought and need while mentoring peers on the what and why with a willingness to modify as you go.
  • Proven ability to meet delivery goals consistently, with high quality output.
  • A portfolio showing great UI design and UX problem solving.
  • Strong understanding of app and web technologies.
  • Humility, plus strong opinions that are loosely held.
  • A Calgary or area home address (while this position can be remote, we are seeking a local candidate)
  • Bonus: Coding ability to implement prototypes and solutions (HTML, CSS and Figma experience)
Interview Process:Over the years we have built an awesome team of people, whom we want to protect and support. One of the ways we do this is through our rigorous hiring process, which includes a pre-screen telephone interview (about 30 minutes), a 1:1 interview with the hiring manager (about 1 hour), a technical assignment (about 2-3 hours), and then a team introduction (about 1 hour). The successful candidate then has their references checked, at which point we may extend an offer. Once an offer is accepted, we have to conduct a background check as we are part of the fin-tech industry. This process not only gives us the chance to get to know you, but gives you the chance to get to know us. Remote Work:This position is based in Calgary, however, the successful candidate will have flexibility to work from home, with supervisory approval.Powered by JazzHR
