POSITION SUMMARYThe Shipper/Receiver/Crane Operator is directly accountable to the Assistant Operations Manager.Able to organize, control and prioritize area of responsibility and to carry out to completion on an agreed timetable and to abide by all Vicwest health and safety rules.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: · Prepare bills of lading by computer or by hand· Arrange for shipments of good by outside carriers· Record shipment data (weight, charges, availability, damages, discrepancies)· Insert appropriately items into shipping containers using spacers and protective padding· Examine outgoing shipments to ensure that shipment meets specifications· Compare the quantity and identification numbers of goods against orders to ensure accuracy· Record accurately items taken from inventory and note when orders are filled· Record damaged or defective goods returned to establishment· Transport materials to and from designated areas by hand or other devices· Operate a forklift to move shipments from shipping and receiving platform to work area or warehouse· Other duties as requiredEDUCATION, SKILL, AND KNOWLEDGE: · Grade 12 diploma· 1-2 years of experience in plant position· Forklift experience: transport materials to and from designated areas in a safely manner· Computer knowledge: record shipment date, prepare bills of lading· Techniques to install protective devices: prevent damage of goods· Transportation industry: knowledge of specifications of road transportation of goods (weight, space availability, charges, etc.)· High mechanical aptitude· Ability to prioritize and multi-task· Good verbal and written communication skills· Excellent attention to detail· Good problem-solving skills· Ability to lift 40+lbs.The candidate will work inside and outside the building.Schedule of 42 hours per weekMonday to Thursday: 7:30 am-5 pmFriday: 7:30 to 2 pmJob Types: Full-time, PermanentAdditional pay:
