Job Description

Plains Midstream Canada (PMC) is an industry-leading transportation and midstream provider specializing in transportation, storage, processing and marketing solutions for crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs). PMC also operates strategically-located facilities for crude oil and NGL storage, separates NGL from natural gas and fractionates NGL into pure liquid petroleum gas (LPG) products, including propane and butane.Fueled by our strong leadership team and a dedicated employee base, combined with our expertise in marketing, logistics and our asset base, PMC is well-positioned to provide our customers with flexible, value-added services now and in the future.Our Operations department is a talented group of professionals who are committed to conducting our business in a manner that ensures the safety and security of the public, our employees and contractors, our assets and the environment. We want consistent and predictable operations done the right way, every time.Plains is looking for an experienced Lead Operator to work on our Manito pipeline system in the Kerrobert, SK area. This position will provide support to operations and maintenance as well as ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures as they pertain to this role.Responsibilities :

  • Maximize plant efficiency by reducing electricity and fuel gas consumption while managing and maximizing production throughput;
  • Ensure plant equipment is running reliably and efficiently by ensuring daily rounds as well as weekly and monthly inspections are completed;
  • Ensure equipment that is scheduled for maintenance is locked out and ready for Maintenance Techs as required;
  • Ensure all Energy Isolations are accurate and complete in accordance with PMC ATW standards;
  • Ensure equipment deficiencies are documented in work orders as required with appropriate prioritization;
  • Ensure all assigned and prioritized work orders are scheduled by working closely with the Mechanical and E&I Area Supervisors;
  • Ensure PMC SOPs and SSOPs are adhered to;
  • Communicate all high and medium risk PSM and HSE issues to Operations Team Leader;
  • Ensure all incidents are reported accurately and in a timely manner;
  • Ensure Plains HSE standards are followed (Life Rules);
  • Ensure employees are trained, assessed, signed off and documented for record retention on all Plains safe work standards
  • Ensure Rail Contractor’s operational shifts have adequate staffing for all required work i.e.: LOTOs, TARs, commercial demands, training, projects and commissioning;
  • Ensure Rail Contractor’s employees are properly trained and competent to perform assigned tasks;
  • Manage Rail Contractor’s employee performance utilizing job observations, employee competency assessments, 360 feedback reviews, safe work audits to support a high performance culture;
  • Ensure Rail Loading, Pipelines and Facility are operable and ready for all commercial orders and commitments;
  • Ensure daily production rail and pipeline orders are completed on time and meet quality standards;
  • Ensure equipment out of service is communicated to the appropriate stakeholder(s);
  • Assist in the development and management of annual operating budgets;
  • Monitor capital and expense projects
Qualifications:
  • Minimum Grade XII education with 3 – 5 years oilfield / pipeline experience;
  • Flexible to work as both an operator and a maintenance person;
  • Strong mechanical aptitude to perform minor maintenance duties;
  • Understanding of ground disturbance protocol, first calls, crossings and proximities is considered an asset;
  • Possess excellent communicational skills;
  • General computer knowledge with experience;
  • Willing to provide support to other Plains facilities if so required; and
  • Preference may be given to candidates with an inter-provincial Journeyman status as a Millwright, Heavy Duty Mechanic, Electrician or Instrument Mechanic.
  • A valid Driver’s License is a condition of employment;
  • Residency within 100 KM of the Kerrobert area is a condition of employment;
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
  • Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing.
