Job Description

Daytime availability required.Sets & prepares banquet floor for meetings and events specified by event contracts and supervisors in a friendly, helpful and efficient manner. Provides prompt and courteous food and beverage service to banquet guests during banquet/ catering functions ensuring guest satisfaction.SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understands Banquet Event orders to ensure details are followed for each function.
  • Set up and/or down function rooms according to the pre-determined standards of the department and hotel. Sets up/breaks down tables, chairs a/v equipment and platforms/stages according to banquet event order.
  • Cleans stores and secures in an organized manner all tables, chairs and tables, a/v equipment, platforms/stages and other equipment used for banquet functions.
  • Serves menu items to guests in a prompt and courteous manner and according to the banquet event order; times the service of courses to correspond with the dining pace of the guests.
  • Refreshes rooms at break; remove dirty cups/glasses empty trash cans, replenishes water pitchers, replaces table cloths etc.
  • Performs pre- and post-shift sidework; set-up, stocks service station, makes coffee, down time cleaning tasks etc.
  • Provides friendly, efficient food & beverage service.
  • Timely deliveries to banquet rooms including contracted items on BEO’s, room service, faxes, photo copies etc.
  • Accurate completion of departmental paperwork including consumption forms daily communication log and checklists.
  • Clears table after service or after each course along with corresponding tables items. Removes trays of dirty dishes, silverware and glassware to kitchen for cleaning
  • Clears room at end of banquet of all props and centrepieces and properly returns to storage. Ensure cleanliness within Banquet rooms, hallway, storage and service areas.
  • Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Provides service of beverage including wine service with proper wine serving etiquette. Checks ID when serving alcohol.
  • Flexible with variety of shifts including midnights and weekends.
  • Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  • Follows company policies and procedures.
Note: Other duties as assigned by supervisor or managemenEducation/ Experience: Basic reading, writing and math. Understands and comprehends English. HEALTH & SAFETY:
  • Use of personal protective equipment as applicable.
  • Follows WHMIS procedures.
  • Know and use emergency procedures – fire, guest and employee security, etc.
  • Reports potential problems and hazards.
  • Practices safe housekeeping.
