Job Description

Communicative Disorders AssistantTemporary Part Time (up to 3 months)$ 28.68 - $ 29.58 Reference#: 22-684AUnder the general direction of the Program Manager, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and thesupervision of a Speech Language Pathologist, the Communicative Disorders Assistant carries outtreatment programs with assigned patients. As a member of the Speech Language Pathology Practicegroup, the Communicative Disorders Assistant participates in discipline specific and inter-professionalactivities that are directed towards a client-centred environment and that contribute to operationalefficiency, program and professional development.Role Responsibilities

  • Conducts speech-language or hearing screenings (without interpretation) following specified screening
protocols developed by the supervising therapist
  • Delivers treatment and/or remediation programs to clients selected by the supervising therapist
  • Follows documented treatment protocols developed by supervising therapist
  • Communicates status of assigned clients to supervising therapist, regularly, including client progress and
observed changes
  • Conducts group treatment sessions
  • Prepares treatment activities and materials (individual or group) within the guidelines established by the
supervising therapist
  • Develops and teaches communication strategies, communication boards
  • Works in compliance with the H&S Act and its regulations in performing duties in a safe manner and follows
all health and safety policies, procedures and legislationRequired Qualifications and Experience:
  • Completion of the Communicative Disorders Assistant program
  • Demonstrated training, skills and education in rehabilitating clients in the areas of communication and
cognition
  • Experience working with adults with acquired neurogenic disorders is an asset
