Applications will only be accepted through this link:https://kdg.humi.ca/job-board/food+and+beverage/9904Job DescriptionAs a food and beverage manager you will be a key member of the Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises hospitality team, leading the onboard and patio hospitality team to effectively meet its goals while controlling costs, and achieving a high guest experience standard. You will also collaborate with other departments to provide support for event planning and execution.At Kingston Destination Group we’re looking for candidates interested in joining a fast-paced, service-focused team in one of Ontario’s most unique and rewarding work environments: onboard our sightseeing and dining cruises sailing from downtown Kingston, Ontario. Discover why Kingston and the 1000 Islands attract visitors from around the world, and help create an inspiring hospitality experience for our guests. This is a seasonal management position, including full-time employment from April to October. As we are a seasonal tourism business, weekend and holiday work is required.Qualifications:

  • Positive attitude and approach,
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment,
  • 3+ years management experience in a food service or hospitality environment
  • Strong verbal communication skills in English,
  • Proficiency in other languages is an asset,
  • Heavy lifting and other demanding physical work is occasionally required.
  • Past serving, bartending or other hospitality experience is an asset
Responsibilities:
  • Lead recruitment, orientation and ongoing training of seasonal crew in hospitality excellence.
  • Coach and mentor through regular communication, feedback, training and hands on involvement to develop knowledge, skills and competency in front-line staff.
  • Monitor and communicate transparent performance metrics.
  • Ensure adherence for procedures, protocols and company policies.
  • Understand financial performance metrics such as product pricing, menu costing, cost of goods (COGs), wage costs, onboard sales, inventory management and other costs.
  • Understand and ensure effective use of onboard systems (POS, IT, sound, hospitality)
  • Manage, develop and update EPOS software to support sales and inventory management.
  • Procure all inventory and supplies for the business units associated with hospitality.
  • Monitor crew scheduling and operations to achieve revenue, wage and COGs budgets.
  • Attend planning sessions and prepare operational requirements a week in advance.
  • Develop and enhance the hospitality program to promote memorable guest experiences.
  • Engage with and collaborate with other departments, including daily check-ins with culinary, and regular communication with Marine and Revenue Departments to ensure wholistic achievement of Safety, Sales, Operations and Hospitality objectives.
