Job Description

Want to get involved We want to hear from you!Summary Reporting to the Head Grower or designate, this role will work within the Grow Team. The IPM Supervisor will be responsible for a variety of IPM duties, including but not limited to implementing the daily schedules to ensure plant health and product quality. The incumbent will be relied upon to lead and supervise the IPM team members to ensure they are meeting daily productivity, quality, and compliance requirements. The IPMSupervisor is expected to operate under the highest standards of compliance and professionalism while maintaining open and clear communication and working as part of a team at a fast pace.Job Duties:

  • Supervises the IPM Team and ensures daily schedules and tasks are performed in a timely and consistent manger.
  • Ensures the identification of plant pest and pathogens and their levels through analysis and provides solutions as required.
  • Ensures daily communication with other departments and ensures that IPM tasks are completed as agreed upon.
  • Determines strategies and plans to control or manage invasive species based on data analysis, chemical or biological control.
  • Maintains and monitors beneficial organism populations and rates.
  • Develops, modifies, and applies plant protectant treatment plans accordingly.
  • Tracks product usage in plant protectant preparation and seeks methods to reduce costs.
  • Ensures the IPM Team maintains clear records and logs and ensures timely submission of all required records.
  • Stays current on practices and all provincial and federal codes and regulations related to IPM in
Cannabis and always ensures compliance (i.e., Cannabis Act and the Occupational Health & Safety Act)
  • Collects data and report to senior management regarding daily and weekly findings.
  • Researches new innovations or techniques in the field of IPM to ensure the highest yield and potency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role for Bio control.
  • 3-5 years of Strong supervisory capacity.
  • Experience working in a large-scale cannabis or greenhouse environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture or Biological Science is preferred.
  • Pesticide Applicators License.
  • Bio control experience.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Technical knowledge of pest eradication and disease control in an agricultural setting.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to logically solve problems and work under pressure.
  • Ability to perform calculations and operations for rates (conversions, percentages, rates, etc.).
  • Detailed oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Highly motivated, results and team-oriented with the ability to work well under pressure, multi- task, and work with frequent interruptions.
Work Conditions
  • 24/7 availability may be required.
  • Physical ability to lift to 30lbs.
  • Personal protective equipment will be required, e.g., steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, gloves, etc.
  • Ability to perform a series of repetitive operations requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Long hours which may entail 8-12 hours or more per working day.
  • Greenhouse may be hot and humid in the summer. Outdoor work may also be required.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, lifting, squatting, and bending.
