  • Ability to organize resources and prioritize tasks, take initiative and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to gather data, to compile information, and prepare reports
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills: both verbal and written

  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Computer experience required with high proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook)

Job SynopsisThis part time, salaried Administrative Assistant position will be responsible to perform day-to-day administrative and clerical functions to ensure the efficiency of the Human Resources Department. The role that requires someone who is highly organized and enjoys new challenges If you enjoy working in a collaborative environment with a team of people who are passionate about what they do, this could be the opportunity for you.This role is part of a team of six within the HR department and reports to the Director of HR.This role will have 50 Kent Ave, Kitchener as the home base, Hybrid office and flexible work policies are in development at MCCO. This candidate will need to be able to work from this location as required.MCC is a charitable organization that partners with churches and community organizations worldwide to walk with people who are disadvantaged. MCC supports activities that provide emergency assistance, reduce poverty, and promote healthy communities, sustainable living and alternatives to violence. As an internationally recognized NGO, MCC currently serves in more than 45 countries with over 475 partners, 1,000 staff and 40,000 volunteers.ChallengesKey ResponsibilitiesHR Director Support
  • Directly support/maintain HR Director’s schedule and on-going projects
  • Assist with the preparation of departmental reporting
  • Synthesize/analyze complicated information and draft communication pieces
  • Schedule, attend and record minutes and/or participate in discussions during HR Team meetings and other events, as required
HR Team Support
  • Provide backfill for Volgistics (volunteer database) administration
  • Assist with Volunteer mailings
  • Provide HRIS data entry support and backfill
  • Responsible for logistics for in person HR sponsored events (orientation, trainings, etc)
  • Provide administrative support for the interview process including: booking interviews and setting up zoom
  • Orders flowers and cards for employees for events such as illness, death in family, birth
  • Ensure org charts are up to date and accessible to all staff
  • Provide payroll supporting documentation back up
  • Update the MCC Ontario (MCCO) staff handbooks
Other
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned
  • Participate in MCCO orientations, provincial meetings, Peace Conference and Staff Development Day
  • Participate in a local faith community, being willing to use personal gifts within this community and model nonviolent peacemaking through respectful interaction with others
  • Maintain a high level of integrity, reflecting Christian respect and Christs unconditional love to those with whom you work, including colleagues, partner agencies, the homeless and marginalized
  • Answer inquiries about MCC from constituency and general public; communicate MCCs values, articulating the importance of MCCs criteria for workers, all of whom serve as representatives of the Mennonite and Be in Christ churches which support MCC
  • Model nonviolent peacemaking through respectful daily interactions with staff and the public
