Job Description

Employment Period: January 11 - March 29, 2023Location: Huron Community CentreTime: Wednesday evenings from 3:45 - 6:00 pmLooking for a fun and rewarding part time jobWant to help young people in our community have fun tooDo you see yourself as a caring adult who could be an awesome role-model for childrenThe Huron Community Association offers a variety of different activities for adults and youth of all ages.The HCA is looking for staff who are organized, motivated to participate, and skilled at being asset builders for children and youth. You may be asked to also supervise additional volunteers.Major Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities for ages 4-6 and 7-9 for the Craft Club program. Participants will be introduced to a different craft each week that is appropriate for their age group. The instructor will be responsible for creating all the craft programs ahead of the session start and provide a list of all supplies required.
  • Organize unique craft activities for each day of the program
  • Foster the development of friendships, celebration of creativity, and increasing of self-esteem amongst the participants
  • Coordinate child centered programming and ensure that supplies are available
  • Provide coordination, support and leadership to the other program staff and volunteers.
  • Act as a positive role model for program staff, volunteers, and participants
  • Implement positive and effective behaviour management strategies
Qualifications:
  • Must possess relevant leadership, administration, supervision, communication, social development and positive behaviour management skills
  • Knowledge and experience in child programming
  • Experience leading a club or relevant activities an asset
  • Must have current Standard First-Aid Certificate
  • Police check required upon offer of employment
  • Ability to work independently and purchase supplies within a budget
  • Own transportation to program location will be required
