Administrative Full-time Replacement PositionReporting to the Registrar, the incumbent manages the administration and delivery of all financial aid, student awards, and bursary programs ensuring students receive quality services. The incumbent coordinates the development and implementation of student financial services processes, and is responsible for ensuring that the continuous process improvements meet the needs of internal and external clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision, leadership, and development of the Student Financial Services team, to ensure that students receive the highest quality support and service.Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement with 2 days on-site, and 3 days remote.Responsibilities:
  • Formulates and implements processes regarding the administration and delivery of Financial Aid programs and related fees services for students to ensure timely and efficient disbursement of funds
  • Ensures delivery of programs in compliance with Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities (MTCU) Policies and Regulations and within stipulated deadlines
  • Oversees the OSAP inspection/audit; creates and implements Corrective Action Plan to correct identified deficiencies
  • Acts as resource person concerning OSAP matters for internal stakeholders
  • Provides leadership to Student Financial Services staff
  • Handles overall responsibility for the MTCU, Tuition Set Aside (TSA), and donor funded programs through the promotion, application, selection, and distribution processes
  • Monitors the expenditures of funds and advises appropriate allocation with MTCU
  • Acts as resource for internal stakeholders (i.e. Accessibility Services re: bursary for student with disabilities and Canada Study Grant for Persons with Permanent Disabilities or First Generation office regarding the First Generation Bursary) regarding students on award, scholarship, and bursary guidelines
  • Ensures accurate, timely reporting to MTCU on allocations; maintains compliance with MTCU guidelines and regulations
  • Liaises with IT to leverage technology to continuously enhance services offered to students and ensure administrative efficiencies are achieved
  • Creates a data-rich environment to support decision making
  • Statistical analysis and report generation of all Financial Aid programs
  • Handles overall responsibility for communication of processes and practices, including the Student Financial Services office website
Qualifications:
  • Four-year Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or related field of study
  • Seven years of experience providing leadership to groups or individuals; preference given to candidates with a minimum of five years of experience directly supervising employees
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office programs; specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated client service and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficient in analyzing and solving complex problems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Specialist knowledge of OSAP and other federal, provincial and private financial aid options
  • MTCU’s AS/400 database and related web-based databases (i.e. Bursary Recording System, Cost Code Management system etc.) would be an asset
