Administrative Full-time Replacement PositionConestoga College is a comprehensive, Institute of Technology and Applied Learning, serving more than 22,000 students at campuses in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Ingersoll, Brantford, and Stratford. This position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement.Responsibilities:Conestoga is seeking applications for the position of Associate Vice President (AVP), Human Resources. Reporting to the Vice-President, Human Resources, Corporate Services, and Secretary General to the Board of Governors, and with regular communication with senior management and union representatives, the AVP, Human Resources will provide leadership, direction, and effective management of all related functions across the College, including Human Resource Services, Employee and Labour Relations, Employee Engagement and Development and Teaching and Learning while being responsive to continued growth and change. The make-up of our workforce is as diverse as our students and exceeds 4,000 full-time and part-time employees, including three bargaining units. Conestoga’s strategic growth priorities make the recruitment and development of employees a Human Resources focus.Qualifications:Our ideal candidate will possess a Degree in Business or Social Sciences plus a Certified Human Resources Leaders (CHRL) Designation and no fewer than 11 years of proven success in a senior-level Human Resources position. The successful incumbent will demonstrate leadership and influence college stakeholders by coaching and advising on employment legal and compliance matters, ensuring adherence to all relevant legislation, HR best practices, policies and procedures, and Collective Agreements.You will be a strong clear communicator who has a record of developing good relationships with groups and individuals at all levels of an organization. Your strengths will also include collaboration, problem-solving, conflict resolution, persuasive negotiation skills, and the ability to thrive in a diverse, fast-paced, multi-campus environment.Recognized as an experienced Human Resources Practitioner who readily shares knowledge and experience yet embraces and leads change, you have demonstrated a talent for building and nurturing your own effective teams, and model that for other leaders through your respectful and cooperative approach. In addition, you possess a solid understanding of applicable employment legislation, have advanced business acumen, and extensive experience working with complex public sector collective agreements.You are a successful college administrator and leader committed to excellence in your work and are skilled at having difficult conversations.
