Headquartered in Kitchener, ON, Canada, Avidbots offers comprehensive service and support to customers in 5 continents.We are excited to add a Sourcing Research & Development (“R&D”) Buyer to our Purchasing Team in support of our company growth and new business efforts!OPTIONS!! This role can be onsite, hybrid, or remote!!

  • Minimal onsite requirements are working at our global headquarters once each week initially and more flexibility may be added if high performance is resulting
How you will make a difference
  • Knowledgeable of the current market, industry trends, and innovation to then identify top vendors and suppliers world-wide
  • Drives continuous improvement and cost management by working with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure synergy with: business needs, favorable terms and conditions, risk mitigation, and required service level agreements
  • Supports Engineering Projects with full function purchasing
  • Performs detailed analysis of various materials to lay out the strategic direction for sourcing
  • Ensures engineering requirements are clearly communicated to the suppliers, even if they are not initially well-defined
  • Participates in supplier selection with a focus on speed of delivery, over cost
  • Executes strategic end to end sourcing activities by bringing the best monetary value to our organization
  • Reviews, analyzes, and manages purchase orders including milestones and on-time deliveries
  • Ensures the required goods arrive at the appointed dates in the agreed-to quality and location
  • Expedites assigned purchase orders to ensure minimal downtime in production
  • Maintains continual contact with vendors and shipping companies while deliveries are enroute
  • Works with suppliers to expedite any late materials or on delayed critical shipments
  • Provides regular progress updates to interested parties, particularly if a critical delivery is going to be late
In this individual contributor role, the professional will work to develop and engage in strong working relationships with not only our present vendors, but also New Product Introduction (“NPI”) suppliers in order to optimize operational functions. They will also partner with our Engineering Teams to provide all the necessary materials to support our current and NPI projects.Preferred qualifications and key skills
  • Formal education related to Procurement and/or Supply Chain
  • Strong Computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, and ERP systems – working knowledge of Epicor is an asset)
  • Working experience with sourcing & procurement processes and best practices, sourcing tools and programs, and procurement legal terms & conditions
  • Working experience identifying risks that affect supply and delivery
  • Demonstrates excellent communications skills (verbal & written); strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of professionals; also successful working independently
  • Valid Passport
Minimum qualifications
  • 2+ years of working in a manufacturing environment as a supply chain professional
  • 2+ years of performing international supply chain sourcing responsibilities
  • 2+ years of Research and Development supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that may include: criminal/civil background checks and motor vehicle records search
