Job Description

Job Summary: SUBSTATION SERVICE TECHNICIANBased in Ontario, MG Power Service Associates Inc. is a service supplier to the high voltage sector performing installation, repairs and maintenance of high voltage equipment to clients across Canada. We service power utilities, power generation and industrial sites who own or maintain high voltage equipment. Our company focuses on quality of service and safety above all else.This Substation Service Technician role will entail performing transformer and other high voltage equipment servicing including new installations, maintenance and repairs, and vacuum oil processing.Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain compliance and follow requirements of Electrical Safety Authority as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act along with specific company or client safety policies and procedures.
  • Show strong technical skills that allow execution all rigging tasks related to transformer service. This may include re-gasketing (as well as cutting new gaskets/o-rings) on transformers.
  • Repair, install, troubleshoot, and maintain transformers, breakers, and switchgear up to 600kv.
  • Perform inspection and troubleshooting of high voltage equipment.
  • Operate large or small vacuum oil processors, other types of oil filtration equipment, and handle transformer and breaker fluids.
  • Create inspection and job reports.
  • Communicate with suppliers and clients as directed.
  • Provide support and input for bidding and quoting.
  • Take personal ownership and pride in the quality of work.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned to support company operations.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
  • Preferable 3 years of High Voltage experience.
  • Ability to identify hazards, recommend and carry out controls to mitigate safety risks on the jobsite.
  • High geographical mobility and ability to work away from home for a period of time. Position requires frequent travel across Canada and occasionally to the United States to various project sites.
  • Valid Drivers License, “G” class minimum.
  • Able to meet appropriate Security Clearance (Criminal Record Check).
  • Knowledge of and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Able to carry out the physical requirements of walking, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, etc. to perform duties of the position.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills using English language.
  • Strong time management and organization skills.
  • Strong technical literacy with proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office programs (such as MS Word and Excel) and/or other project management, scheduling programs on various devices and platforms.
  • Professional and respectful demeanor. Work well with others in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Willingness to follow direction and support all operations as needed.
  • AZ or AR Driver’s License considered an asset.
  • Pass routine drug screening.
