Administrative Full-time PositionAbout Conestoga CollegeConestoga is a leader in polytechnic education, delivering a full range of career-focused education, training, and applied research programs. Conestogas growing network of campuses serves approximately 55,000 full and part-time Canadian and International learners each year. These learners have been drawn to Conestoga to pursue a high-quality education. Conestoga delivers more than 300 career-focused programs and has more degree offerings than any other college outside the GTA, including Ontarios only college-based, accredited engineering degrees. As one of the countrys top research colleges, Conestogas applied research activities support student learning and help area businesses grow, innovate, and improve their productivity. Conestoga College has campuses and training centres in Brantford, Cambridge, Guelph, Ingersoll, Kitchener, Stratford, and Waterloo. The future is bright for Conestoga, with a new Skilled Trades campus that opened in September, as well as further expansions on the horizon in Milton and Waterloo Wellington.The RoleReporting to the College President, the Vice President & Chief Financial Officer (VP & CFO) is responsible for providing strategic business and financial leadership, including budgeting, financial forecasting and planning, reporting, and capital management. The VP & CFO plays an integral role in contributing to and delivering on Conestogas strategic direction in a manner that strikes the right combination of financial efficiency and risk management. The incumbent provides expertise on all financial matters to the President and the senior management team.Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement.Responsibilities:Principal AccountabilitiesAccounting, Finance, and Financial Analysis
  • Prepare and maintain regular financial planning reports
  • Develop and execute analysis of development opportunities and business initiatives
  • Oversee preparation of annual and interim financial statements
  • Present financial updates to the Finance and Audit Committee and the Board of Governors throughout the year
  • Serve as a contact for external agencies and auditors, manage preparation and support of external audits
  • Update and present financial plans and forecasts
  • Develop and maintain capital budget
  • Develop long-term cash flow planning and investment projections
  • Oversee and advise on financing strategies and activities, major projects
  • Assist in drafting grant proposals and supporting documents
  • Respond to internal and external queries on prepared and submitted proposals
  • Oversee financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships
Strategic Responsibilities
  • Along with members of the executive team, analyze and review corporate strategy and opportunities and strategic execution
  • Develop short-, medium-, and long-term financial plans and projections to support strategy
Management Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of Finance and Accounting at the College
  • Ensure that appropriate reporting, projects, internal controls, and compliance is maintained
  • Guide all financial decisions and ensure they are aligned with strategy
  • Manage the financing of strategic projects
  • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to Finance and Accounting staff
  • Participate as required in the Finance and Audit Committees
  • Attend and participate in Board of Governors meetings as required
  • Manage the financing of strategic projects
