Job Description

"Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of others Do you have an outgoing personality and can encourage others to participate with you We are looking for someone who has the confidence to assist in growing our volunteer team, who support staff, as they diligently deliver our life-changing programs to many in need in our community."Ray of Hope is currently seeking a Part-Time Volunteer Services Associate to join our team.OverviewWorking under the direction of the Volunteer Services Manager, the Volunteer Services Associate is responsible for providing support and coordination to the Volunteer Services group. Volunteers are a vital resource in the delivery of Ray of Hopes programs and services.Specific Responsibilities

  • Communicate regularly with current and potential volunteers through timely e-mails phone calls and occasional in-person meetings
  • Maintain and update volunteer records
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly statistical and scheduling reports
  • Facilitate orientation and training for volunteers
  • Assist in the development and revision of programs under the direction of management.
  • Actively participate in the interviewing and onboarding of volunteers as required
  • Participate in volunteer fairs and presentations to promote Ray of Hope as a volunteering opportunity
  • Various administrative duties
  • Working closely with the Program Director, Community Centre, coordinate and support in scheduling of volunteer groups
  • Collaborate with the Development for a positive Volunteer social media strategy
  • Coordinates and schedules meal teams for the Community Centre
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time

  • Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize standard office machinery.
Requirements
  • Pre-Employment Health Assessment Form including immunization record and fitness assessment
  • Vulnerable Sector Check/Police Check
  • Valid, unrestricted Class “G” Drivers license
  • Ministry of Transportation Drivers Abstract
Physical Demands
  • This position requires the incumbent to work predominantly in an office environment spending the majority of the time in a seated position, working at a computer
  • The incumbent will predominantly work Monday through Friday during normal business hours, however the occasional evening and weekend may be required
  • The incumbent will work closely with our Community Support programs and thus may occasionally be exposed to (although not directly involved in the management of) aggression displayed by our guests
  • Requires incumbent to climb stairs (3 flights) on a daily basis and potentially multiple times to support Community Centre program
  • This position is for up to 25 hours per week
