They come from all walks of life and want to make a difference. Our paid responders provide their time to train and respond to incidents and work beside our career and paid responder firefighters from other stations. They are trained, dedicated and committed to helping people in their time of need. You can train to become a medical first responder, firefighter or both.Paid and medical responders are compensated by their fire department to train and respond to incidents.Paid responders are trained to respond to emergency incidents of all kinds. They respond to fires, rescues, medical, hazardous materials, and many other types of calls. Paid responders train to achieve required skills. They maintain and clean equipment and apparatus and work with our partners to mitigate emergency incidents. They also support their respective communities through public education and support of community activities.Paid responders will be able to complete training in diverse competencies such as:FirefightingVehicle rescue and extricationMedical pre-hospital careSpecialized rescue, Ice, rope, farm, large animalWildland firefightingDangerous goodsThe Medical First Responders are dedicated, reliable and who have accepted the responsibility of caring for neighbours and community members while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. They attend specific incidents and may assist in hall and post incident duties.
