The position will report into the National Manager, EHS Projects, Programs & Analytics, while also focusing on directly supporting Regional EHS Directors in EHS programsRole Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating Transportation Safety program
  • Support National and Regional EHS teams in the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of Sysco Canada’s Transportation Safety Program to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Coordination of Transportation Safety Program requirements to ensure compliance with various legislation
  • Working with transportation managers and supervisors on the collection and organization of driver qualification files
  • Cross reference and centrally organize equipment safety certifications
  • Record and organize maintenance records for trailers and tractors
  • Producing reporting on various program components
  • Coordinate with the sites to ensure compliance to federal and provincial standards are kept up to date
  • EHS Support
  • Organize and support the creation implementation and updating of EHS policies, procedures and programs including document creation and training implementation
  • Administration and maintenance of training documents including updating training matrices
  • Updating and maintaining EHS Contractor registry
  • Safety Data Sheets inventory reconciliation with products in the warehouse
  • Filing or entering inspections and other data entry into EHS online tools
  • Assisting with creation of corrective action plans for non-compliances
  • Following up with onsite teams on corrective action closure
  • Perform data collection, analysis and reporting to Manager for decision making purposes.
  • Tracking and analyzing cost (IWH tools)
  • Draft, edit and prepare EHS team correspondence, reports and other material using word processing, spreadsheets and/or databases
  • Collaboration other functions
  • Coordinating with Human Resources Recruiters and 3rd party clinics to manage testing for new hires (POET)
  • Coordinate with Regional EHS teams and supervisors to ensure WCB cases are properly managed utilizing 3rd party vendor.
  • Working with Facilities Management on the collection and organization of key documents from sub-contractors
  • Create and enter subcontractor files into EHS online tools and report to Facilities Management team on valid contractors
  • Keep subcontractor files current
  • Responsible for compliance with all Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) comprising Sysco’s Food Safety Program, specific for the assigned role.
  • Assist Food Safety Program Manager in ensuring compliance to Sysco’s Food Safety Program that leads to compliance with third party certification and customer requirements.
  • Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
  • Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements:
  • 3+ years of administration experience in the areas of analytics, supply chain, transportation, risk management, health and safety, or related field
  • High School diploma is required
  • Post-secondary education with major course work in EHS, risk management / safety / industrial / quality / environmental engineering / transportation / fleet safety or a closely related field is an asset
  • Fluency in French and English is an asset
  • Knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal EHS and WCB requirements and industry standards/best practices (i.e. acts, regulations, codes, standards, and case law) is an asset
  • Ability to support a strong safety philosophy and support programs designed to effectively change behavior and prevent injury using data- and research-driven methods
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Ability to learn software and systems quickly
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with management, employees, and customers and experience collaborating with unions
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities at once.
  • Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for diversity in a work environment including socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds as well as sexual orientations and disabilities
  • Valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle may be required some travel up to 10%
