We are currently looking to fill the position of Safety Coordinator (Term).Reporting to the Manager Contractor Safety, the Safety Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating activities for the Contractor Safety Management Plan at Nova Scotia Power.The responsibilities will include:

  • Providing analysis and support services including trend analysis reports to business units using data from our Incident Reporting Data Base.
  • Updating contractor safety management information on the NSP website and SharePoint site
  • Participating in the development and delivery of the safety department work plan
  • Coordinating and scheduling of training for employees and contractors
  • Performing safety audits and inspections to review risks and ensure processes in place
  • Identifying key concerns and recommending approaches that are consistent with contractor safety management plan
You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.Skills, Capabilities and Experience: A strong working knowledge of the MS Office Suite and SharePoint is required. PeopleSoft experience is considered an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with three years experience in an analytical role as well as two to three years experience in the safety, health, or education field. A CHSC, CRSP or Adult Education Diploma is considered an asset.The successful candidate will have excellent analytical skills, the ability to present various analyses in an understandable format, and the ability to convey complex ideas simply to others. You will bring strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, time-management, and decision-making skills. You have a strong work ethic, a high respect for confidentiality and sound professional judgment and initiative.
