We are currently looking to fill the position of Field Supervisor, Hydro Systems.Accountabilities: As the Field Supervisor, you will be accountable for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation and maintenance of the Eastern Valley Hydro System. You will provide leadership to NS Power crews and contractors to complete operating, maintenance and capital projects related to equipment life extensions or dam safety initiatives. You will be responsible for the care and upkeep of the Hydro assets through the timely identification and resolution of mechanical, electrical, and structural maintenance deficiencies. You must demonstrate your ongoing personal commitment to increased productivity and efficiency gains through the Continuous Improvement Process (CIP).The successful candidate will assist with the development and administration of the hydro system’s safety program. You will support effective water management with the goals of protecting public safety, meeting environmental responsibilities, and delivering efficient production. You will be responsible for effective communication with the public and all stakeholder groups. You will assist in the preparation of budgets and financial projections and will implement cost control measures as required and directed.You will be responsible for your personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the Hydro environmental management system processes and initiatives.Skills, Capabilities and Experience: University or community college education to the level of technologist or directly equivalent knowledge is required. You must have demonstrated communication, organizational and leadership capabilities and be able to adapt readily to change. The successful applicant must be a self-motivated individual who is committed to NS Power guiding principles and alignment of goals and objectives for all employees.You must have a valid drivers license, locate your primary residence within an acceptable travel time to the Eastern Valley Hydro office in White Rock, Nova Scotia and be available for after hour emergency service restoration.You are proficient in the use of computers and have a good working knowledge of work management and scheduling systems.
