Job DetailsThe Greenhouse Supervisor is responsible for organizing the safe and efficient workflow process of staff and greenhouse operations. They ensure food safety, quality, plant maintenance, and staff training requirements are met. They also ensure the Greenhouse Team’s success by coaching their team to improve their productivity, quality and overall performance.Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to: · Supervise daily activities of the greenhouse, including crop work and harvesting activities· Provide guidance to greenhouse work force with respect to performance management, employee relations, awareness of business context/profitability as well as training/development of staff members· Schedule and oversee greenhouse team to meet the demand, and manage the flow and quality of work to maximize efficiency· Motivating and encouraging the team to reach individual and company objectives· Conduct routine quality inspections to ensure each worker has met the expectations set out in the weekly meetings· Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee/coordinate general maintenance as needed· Meet regularly with warehouse leads to review, analyze, and develop actionable plans for productivity and loss prevention· Communicate and address variances, quality issues and concerns with relevant departments to help identify the causes and implement sustainable corrective action· Support the Operations Manager to ensure the operation remains within budget for labor and throughput; monitor and measure performance to minimize downtime, reduce costs and improve quality and efficiencies· Complete required documentation, records, and checklist; submit to appropriate management personnel· Responsible for reviewing employee labour tracking system as well as re-training employees if necessary· Monitor the working environment to ensure compliance of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, Food Safety, HACCP, and all company policies and procedures· Actively initiate, participate in, and support continuous improvement initiatives· Reporting as required by management and the company· Additional duties as assigned by the company or managementJob Requirements: · High School Diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary in horticulture considered an asset· Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a greenhouse environment or related supervisory experience· Intermediate level Microsoft Office skills required· Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, Food Safety, HACCP principles· Proven ability to lead and motivate a team· Strong problem-solving skills required to analyze/solve problems and any unforeseen complications that could arise.· Must be able to prioritize and multi-task while having strong organizational skills and attention to detail.· Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle are required.· Available to work Monday-Saturday after hours may be required at times.Workplace Conditions· The Greenhouse Supervisor spends all of their time (90%+) except when completing administrative tasks in the office ( >10%). The greenhouse can be very hot or cold, depending on the season.· The Supervisor works an average of 50-55 hours per week but may vary based on the needs of the business· The Greenhouse Supervisor would need to maintain regular communication with the Warehouse Supervisor, Human Resources, and the Operations ManagerCompensation: Based on experience.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentSchedule:
