The Maintenance Manager will develop and manage progress of the department towards the long-term maintenance strategy, and be committed to achieving excellence in maintenance, quality, health and safety, environment, and product safety.Responsibilities

  • Manages the daily operations of all employees of the Maintenance Department, ensuring all activities are in line with current business standards and long-term maintenance strategy.
  • OHSA - Ensures compliance of Occupational Health & Safety Act (section 25, 26, 27, and 28) - Management-Supervision-Worker Safety Responsibilities.
  • Provides leadership to supervisors and/or professional staff; may also include technical/business support or production/operation staff.
  • Builds high performance work groups focused on customer service and delivering results.
  • Inspires and motivates employees to achieve performance levels and potential through highly developed coaching skills, communication skills and by ensuring proper development training.
  • Manages annual operating and overhead budgets, capital projects and execute actions plans that drive efficiencies. Manage resources to ensure objectives are delivered.
  • Establishes targets in equipment reliability and service standards, monitoring performance against targets.
  • Facilitate team decisions towards root cause fixes that need to be made to procedures, systems, equipment or technology.
  • Develops and communicates the strategy for the Maintenance Department, including maintenance schedules, maintenance SOPs, maintenance training material, business, production and/or organizational prioritiess.
  • Leads the effort to achieve business results by maintaining/instituting a Continuous Improvement culture, utilizing Lean Manufacturing tools.
  • Leads change initiatives to deliver business results while maintaining an engaged workforce.
  • Builds a highly competent maintenance team through coaching and training. Creates a work environment where employees can maximize their talents and perform at or above expectations.
  • Manages maintenance capital projects, delivering results on-time and on-budget.
  • Audit maintenance purchases.
  • Maintains Management Software.
Required Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
  • A strong technical knowledge of industrial/agricultural plant environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Maintenance Management and personnel experience.
  • Skilled Trade (Millwright, Electrician, Pipefitter, etc.)
  • Proven ability to create SOPs and other work-related documents
  • High competency in big picture thinking, ability to make things happen, customer focus, team building, influencing & partnering.
  • Ability to interact/collaborate with various trades employees and contractors.
  • MS Office – Word, Excel, Access, Outlook
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
Preferred Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
  • MMP Certificate (Maintenance Management Professional) or Engineering Degree
  • Commercial Greenhouse Experience
  • JHSC Certification/First Aid Certification
  • Experience with climate control software (Priva, Hoogendoorn, Hortimax)
Educational Requirements
